bush hog cphd auger

any mem's have the Bush Hog cphd auger? Are you happy with it? I'm looking for a post hole auger for fence repairs and new holes here and there. Terrain is dirt and rock (how much rock, I don't know yet) A dealer is selling these Bearcats at 750.00 CDN as NOS, 2011 units. I can't find any info either with regards to the price being a good deal or not. Going on a B3000 tractor.

Re: bush hog cphd auger

I had a bushhog PHD for years until someone backed up to my shed and wanted it more than me but that's another story. Anyway, it worked very well and I have no complaints. I found some off brand POS to replace it and it sure makes me miss my bushhog digger. I did buy a 12" auger from TSC and it has worked well so far. Don't know anything about their diggers but their augers are work good.

I also have a TSC PHD and have used it for just under 1,000 feet of fence so far with a 9" auger. It would have more feet of fence under its belt but I tend to use a farmer buddies hydraulic post driver more often then the PHD. But so far I've been happy with the TSC model. I believe I paid 429 for the PHD and another $120 or so for the 9" auger and couple more bucks for the gear oil since it came empty.

All the bush hog equipment I've had over the years have been very well built and easy to get replacement parts for.
So I don't think you'll go wrong with it! ;)

I found the specs for the the unit and it says up to 24 horse tractors, so I guess that eliminates it for me. I'm not sure why the horsepower would matter, maybe someone could help me out with that. Lighter weight parts maybe??
