Hi all
Accidently charged my conventional battery with the charger set for AGM battery.
Did I damage battery too much or at all.
I googled the heck out of it and could not find an answer.
Thanks David

You took a couple of years off of its life, but you won't know how many until it dies. I wouldn't worry about it. Better to charge a conventional battery in AGM mode, then charge a AGM battery in conventional mode.

Just a question what does the AGM mode do/?
More current or voltage?
Thanks David
AGM batteries shouldn't be charged as quickly as conventional LA batteries so the AGM charges the battery more slowly. so usually less amps

I seriously doubt you did any harm....
according to a Google search conv. bat is 12.70 v, agm is 12.80 v
that .1 v 'over charge' might not even have occoured.

first what 'charger' did you use ? 'smart','trickle','SCR', 'stupid' ? There's at least 11 types of 'chargers' I've designed/built/repaired over 45 years.

2nd, what DVM do you test voltage with ? EVERY DVM/DMM is +-1 digit. So if it reads '12.7' it could be 12.6 to 12.8. Nature of the beast, NO exceptions.

3rd, what battery ? capacity and age are important factors, as it room temperature where charging was done. Depending on mfr/mdl/cap/age of battery it will require different charging methods to properly recharge the battery.

Yep, no harm done at all, if anything it's a better way to charge a regular lead acid battery. ;)

It was a harbor freight batt charger that has 2 amp 10 amp and 50 amp jump starter.
was very inexpensive but needed jump starter and old scumacher did not have that.
I do not know a great deal about the different voltages it produces.
It was about 40 deg for car and tractor batteries.
age of batt is about 3 to 4 years

Your battery will be perfectly fine. No harm done using the slower charge rate of the AGM setting. Breathe easy.
