I am thinking of replacing the flighting on my snowblower. Has anyone done this? What do I need to watch out for? I am also thinking of making the bearing attachment non-movable and using an idler to adjust tension. Any thoughts on this? Thanks much

I can never get my drive chain adjusted with the cam/bearings. Either to tight at closest point or with offset link added to chain too loose at the furthest point. Chain looks OK using the droop test. So I am looking at a idler also.
My thoughts so far:
- Fixed position, not spring loaded. At low RPM I get a harmonic wind/unwind of the blower drive, probably my 2 cylinder.
- A UHMW rub block for chain contact. I think this will require less power that a true idler sprocket.
-Not sure how to attach and adjust yet. Could use a design like the blower shoes and cut slots in the side. Maybe a swing arm with a screw adjustment like used in the MMM.
Probably leaning toward the second idea.
Open for ideas, Jeff
