Wolfman; in one of your threads you mentioned having a newer version of the starter would crank the engine of my B7200 over much faster and I would not have the need for the decompression lever.
I've attached a photo of the existing starter hoping you can identify old or new.
By the looks of the starter I'm thinking it is the older version.
I was wondering how much faster the newer version is and to be sure this would not be a problem for such and old engine.
Would you also know the part number for the new version
Regards
Don Berry

When I “click” on that pic (in order to view a larger version)...I receive a msg that “you do not have permission to view this”.

Why is that?

Meanwhile, Berry.... look for a data-tag on the starter which may identify the actual part number or model of starter....and then look for a cross-reference or “superceded” part no.

Thank you Geo; I'm not sure why you can't view I am having trouble with my OTT site. The OTT continues to ask me to verify my email I have had no problems with it till now.
TOT won't allow me to even upgrade.
Any way, back to the starter; I can not read the label. I belief Wolfman suggested he could identify it by a photo. That was my hopes as it does look fairly old and is probably the original ftom 1985.
P.S. I have changed my email to another gmail and hopefully that will work.

That looks to be either an original or old rebuild starter, newer starters and solenoids are smaller.

It looks by the rust marks that it's been overheated in the past, probably from cranking too long.
Doing that to the starter makes them weak, so a change might help you out.

I can see the picture just fine.
usually opening issues with pictures is a local issue not a OTT issue.

Thanks Wolfman; I'll do some more research. It turns over ok in the warm weather. Hoping to make some changes to improve starting for next winter. I'll follow up after the changes.

Quick question for you Wolfman; I believe you might have suggested that the newer version starter may turn over faster. Is thus because it is just healthier unit or in the design. If it is in the design, do you have an idea what percentage faster it may be?
