Well I finally had time to register so I can post on the OTT site!

I just removed my U-joint cover when I split the tractor and had about a small cup of lube in it also. I thought it might be leaking from front seal but checked levels in front and it seemed ok. Also, I cleaned up the front yoke area and leaned the front end down and in over a week none has seeped out of the front end so it may be factory lube for the front U-joint. Manual says nothing about servicing it and there is not a zerk on it.

thanks for the great info on this site!

Btackett,

I am pretty sure it is leakage through the front seal. It has been discussed before if you want to search for the post. The front u-joint has sealed bearings and requires no external lubrication.

Are your safety stands hidden in the picture or don't you use them?

I will need to order a seal for replacement then while I have it apart.

thanks.
Whether I change the seal or not would depend on how much oil was in the can. I didn't change mine because it only had about 1/2 to a cup of oil. If it were significantly more, like the can was full, then I would change it. I would expect that if yours is not leaking now, since it is hanging down hill, then it is probably OK. That said, if you want to be extra safe and not want to take it apart again, then now would be the time. I haven't changed one, so I don't know how difficult it is.

B7100, I have the invisible ones in the picture. :D When I split the tractor I used two jack stands and a 4x4 but when I got it all apart I put the floor jack back under it to cleanup/move around and then took a pic or too before setting it all back up.

I will be sure and get a picture of it WITH the stands so we can all sleep better at night.

NOTE: No actual Kubota tractors were injured during the picture taking.

300ZX, I wonder how hard the seal is to replace? I might as well do it while it is apart. I have never replaced one either.
