As I posted before I have a B6100 tractor with an engine based on a D750.
I say based on because it has a mix of parts.
As I put it back together I have noticed it has no stop lever that I can find.
So I have to ask before I try to start it, how do I shut it down if it starts?
This is my first Kubota and first deisel with no obvious stop device.

chknscratch,
Just pull the throttle lever all the way back to cut off the fuel.
Stopping an engine with the decompression is very hard on them and will burn the valves.

Sgtwal,
Same just pull the throttle lever all the way back that cuts the fuel.

to help out some and if need be (as in if your throttle linkage cant be moved back by hand) #1 locate your fuel pump #2 locate the arm that the throttle linkage is connected to on your fuel pump #3 with engine running at idle move the arm in both directions (from what i know most are, to the front = more throttle, to the rear = less) #4 to shut down engine push the arm in the direction of less throttle.

if all else falls choke the air intake off with something that can not be sucked into the intake (decent sized wood board, coffee can) this method may require you to disassemble your intake a considerable amount depending on your model of tractor.

lastly shut off the fuel supply line, i do believe that all kubotas have a shut off in the fuel line some were. this option sucks to have to do as you then will most likely have to bleed the fuel lines in order to start again.

as for shutting a diesel off using the decompression lever.... i simply can NOT believe the amount of people i have seen/heard/read about them doing this. its almost every time shutting off a diesel comes up it gets said as a way someone is shutting there diesel off. ITS NOT HOW YOU DO IT FOLKS. that lever is to assist in starting and starting only.

Sorry for the poor advice, i had no idea. Good to know. I have probably only ran and shut it down 5 times, hopefully not too much damage has been done. I imagine previous owner may have done this as well, but he has passed away, so I will never know. I have tried pulling the yellow throttle handle as hard as I could for 20 seconds plus and it will slow the idle speed down, but won't come to a complete stop. I got my clutch in, but haven't reassembled. I will try to get this on my list of fixes before firing up again. Thanks all!

Don't worry bout damaging it. My fil and the previous owner of my tractor never realized there was a fuel kill lever down by the break pedal attached to the throttle linkage. They both used the decompression lever to shut it down for the past 20 some odd years. The old girls still running strong;)
