I went out to the farm this weekend to check on things, and apparently my steering box had some water in it?!? That's my guess, anyway, because the cast iron of the left side of the box is blown out and there is no water or oil left in it...
I found a steering column for a B7100. Does anybody know if this will work? It's pricey, though - I'd rather just buy the steering box if anybody has a good one laying around...

I was afraid of that. Thankfully, the steering still works just fine, there's just a nice "window" in the side of the box. I may just braze it up and fill it with oil.

Water must have been under the oil in the box. Just because you have a full box of steering fluid and top is oil, that doesn't mean that ALL of it is oil!
Lesson learned? Change all fluids completely when you buy a used tractor.

As an aside, if there is any steering box that does interchange, I'd really appreciate the heads-up on that-

Good info. I'll try JB first, then go to the torch if it doesn't hold. I'll try the oil first, but will go with grease if I get any tiny leaks.
