I have a front snowblower on my B2650HSDC. The driveshaft snapped the bolt and mangles the sheild. I contacted the dealer and they told just put another 1/4" x 2 1/2" bolt in it just snapped. I did finally find part of old bolt and it shows should be grade 8, this would make difference for sure. Is there a key for the keyway on this shaft end. Cannot find in the parts manul. Anyone have what size it is??

There is 2 drive shafts. Is the one you talking about the short one ?
Did you put something through the blower?
When you replace the bolt did it shear right away?

Just had the exact same thing happen to me last week. There is a 1/4 x2 1/2 inch bolt as well as a 1/4“ square key 1 1/4” long that you need to replace. When mine came apart I lost the bolt and key. The bolt is NOT a shear bolt.

The only way that this can separate is for the nylock nut on the end of the bolt to have come off first. The set screw would have to be loose enough on the key for the PTO shaft to move away from the short shaft on the blower. The bolt only holds the shaft from sliding off, the key keeps the two shafts spinning. The key is held in place with a set screw, and my set screw was loctited in place, and took some force to remove. There was no damage to the key way on the short shaft, or the yoke of the PTO universal.

I had the same damage to the guard as you did. A little pounding with a hammer, and it was mostly back to normal. I also damaged the PTO shield. That plastic shield, is, hang on, $89.00 plus shipping from Messicks. I repaired the damage with some electrical tape. Not perfect, but couldn’t see spending over a $100.00 for a piece of plastic

The operating manual shows and list the bolt as a 1/4-20x 2 1/2 and a 1/4-20 nylock nut. So I replaced with the same but added locktite to it as well.

Well was my mistake. I did not put the key in the keyway . It was missing and just had a brain fart thinking too much about getting it back together. I installed a new key and bolt. I have ordered the Nylon Repair kit for the shield and will reinstall the shield just lost about 1/2" off the end which is covered by guard. I repaired the yoke for the ujoint and hope it holds. Brazed it as had small crack will see how it holds up. I know now that it was the hard snow as with warm temps it melt and got hard. It was slowing the engine down to 1500 from 2700 so now know to watch when plowing hard snow. Just too much torque on the driveshaft so something had to give. We learn everyday. Lucky I can repair myself or would have cost me a lot more. I also had to repair the shield. I do not have a manual for my bower did not get one with tractor. Is there one on line??
Thanks for info.
