Was looking over my machine for other possible grease zerks that may not have been in the owner's manual. I found the outer ball joint rubber boot is cut. Don't know how long ago this happened. I assume this was done out in the field - cannot imagine it came from the factory/dealer like this.

Does it need to be replaced ASAP? What's the best way to replace it? Lift the wheels completely off the ground with FEL, or partial/full weight on tire?

Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to one of a few Kubota pitfalls - the rubber "boots"
I think every new "boot" last about 6 months.....or 6 hours, whichever comes first!:)

Check Ebay - there are replacement boots that will last a lot longer!

Check with Tony here on OTT - he might have a solution too

here is his info:

So is just the boot replaceable? The parts breakdown just shows the entire ball joint. EBay kubota ball joint boot?

It actually a tie rod end.dorman industries has a few universal tie rod boots.check your local auto parts supplier. Its there to keep the grit out, regular greasing will prevent dirt from getting in.

Just to clarify, the boot kit for inner and outer tie rod replacement that Tony offers on eBay will fit both the BX and B series?
I'm pretty sure they are the same, ask Tony, he could give you measurements and confirm. ;)
