My B2150hst has a Hi, Med and low side of the hydro. I have not shifted it into the low side (since I got it) until this morning when mowing some banks. It would not go into the low side so I shifted back up to medium. When I went to come home on the subdivisions streets, it would not shift into Hi, it just shifted into med. It seems to be a linkage problem. Any suggestions before I tear into it? I have the manual, so I will be looking at it also.

Make a samich and have a cold one or two for the job ahead! ;)

I'll also have to consult the books for any further info on the tractors problem. :D

yea sounds like you got it on the linkage.had similar issues with the pto as it would not go far enough to fully engage or disengage.and that sits right under the range control. the middle worked fine but either end was an issue.

I have a B9200 which is the predecessor for the B2150. Not sure if your shifter is like mine or like the newer B7500's and such. If you have a lever under your right calf area, then yours is like mine. My lever goes from med to high easily but sometimes I need to get my finger around in back of the lever and slightly push the linkage so it aligns so I can put it in low range. My shifter gate is in a U shape.

If you have a linkage like the B7500 and such, then you might be out of luck. That is a long lever with three positions plus neutral. You might luck out and have a broken roll pin, but if not, then the forks inside the transmission likely got bent/spread and that's why you lost high. Happened to one of my customers, the dealer had to split the tractor and replace that shift fork inside the transmission to get high back. I think it ran him over $700.

Ummm after looking at the prints make 2 samiches and get a shot or two to go with the cold ones.

Your tractor uses a very elaborate shared/interlocked linkage to shift between the three stages, if one stage is not adjusted right it won't let it move to the other stages.

Wolfman, I have been looking for any info on how to adjust the two linkages and haven't found anything, even in the service manual.

Billdog350, mine must be like the B9200 if yours has the same upside down U as shown in the picture Wolfman posted.

I did find the attached reference for the two rod lengths in the dissasembly section of the service manual. I just can't tell where the measurement starts and stops. I assume it is in the middle of the clevis pins. I think I will start there and bush up any slack in the linkage. Anyone have a better picture of page S.S 24 in the Service manual?

I'm betting lever 170 has moved down before it's time.
Check if the main lever 210 is fully up that lever 170 is also up as it has to line up with the pin on the side of lever 210.
lever 10 moves In both positions but lever 170 should be up when the lever 210 is in the outbound slot.

Wolfman, that was exactly it. When I got the shield off, I found 170 in the down position. I started the tractor, clutched it and pulled 170 to the top position, then engaged the pin from 210 into it and that fixed it. When I have more time I will check why it came disengaged.

While I had it in the shop, I tore down the solenoid on the starter. I had done this before and just buffed up the copper and left the pits. This time I mounted the center plunger with the copper washer in the drill press and filed it down smooth. The two L shaped copper contacts on the bolts were also pitted. I filed them down smooth. Now the solenoid works as it should! As they say on Wheeler Dealers, everything is "sorted."

Thanks for the help,
