I"m new to this forum, and I have found some threads really interesting.

I have a BX2200 that I bought in '03, and it has been a great little worker for me. It has been too small numerous times, but it has been just right for many others. Wife and I are getting old enough to suffer the aches and pains that now interfere in our physical labors. Cleaning up a huge tree that fell over in a storm has convinced us to get a larger tractor.

I have looked at John Deere - too expensive and does not have a skidsteer attach system for the front bucket without paying even more.

Massey Furgeson has not done well in our area, so I looked at the LS tractors. Much better pricing, but the simple features that I am used to or looking for are missing. I cannot raise and curl the front bucket at the same time, and there is no option for a hydraulic thumb for the backhoe.

New Holland prices themselves up with the John Deere.

So, since all my other equipment (RTV900 and ZD331) are all orange, we are going to stay that way. Of course, since the owner of the Kubota dealership is a friend of ours, so much the better.

I've looked at the L-series and the BX series. The BX25D is just smaller than we want to go. The L-series we looked at from 2501 to 4701 with loader and backhoe capabilities do not seem to have what we expect to need if another one of our huge trees falls over.

I recently participated in a cleanup operation after a tornado tore up part of a nearby town, and I saw what some equipment can do and what some can't do. I expect that our next tractor will have to have some heavyweight capability.

We have chosen the MX5800 as our next tractor. I may not need the capacities weekly, but I guess that when I do need it; I'll have it.

And that means our orange lineup with have 4 items rather than 3 - unless I sell off the BX2200.

For an open station, an MX5800 is hard to beat for production and cost. It is essentially the old model Grand L and those were great tractors.

Now you just have to add remotes, third function TnT ....

I don't expect to need a TnT, and I am getting the BH92 with it anyway. The third function will come with it for the root grapple.

I'm starting to feel like a kid waiting on Christmas.

Just trying to point out, we often overlook things when buying a new tractor. Heck, we've bought quite a few new tractors and when I bought my last, I thought for a long time about what I needed at the time of purchase and might need in the future.

Yeah, been back to the dealer a few times for add on stuff costing 5K or more. The things I've posted on here I was sure I'd never need or want is a long one...

I certainly understand the idea of "I'll never need that." I am currently not at home, but while I am waiting to get home; I am surfing the net looking at implements. I think I will want a box blade. I have a root rake and hardly use it. I have a grader blade that doesn't do much when attached to my BX2200. I am no longer certain that I will want a bush hog. Instead, I am thinking that a ratchet rake will enable me to clean up the areas I am looking to clear out.

Time passes slow waiting for the new tractor.

I find that interesting because when I priced tractors, without a backhoe New Holland was less than the Kubota by about the same margin that the Deere was over the Kubota. However they didn't offer a backhoe in the 50 hp size without going aftermarket, and the sales guy said it would be a 2-3 hour job to switch between the backhoe and the 3 point. I had the same issue with Deere as you. Sales guy told me they would actually have to go with an aftermarket bucket to get the SSQA setup. Plus it was even more money to get a quick-detach loader. I remove the loader when plowing and disking. I don't even know if the Deere backhoe is quick-detach or not.

Check with BXPANDED on a Pirahna TB, I find it does almost as good as a ratchet rake and no swapping it on and off. I only use the RR when I have a lot of clearing, then still take it off to scoop up the roots/weeds etc. most of the time I just use the PTB and no getting on/off tractor, what I save with one implement over 2 is worth it. Something to look into anyway.
