I found this tractor setting in a barn with a pyramid of pigeon dropping on the right fender, about a foot high!
The man didn't want to sell it because he owned 80 ac. he needed to mow once in a while with his 10' Bush Hog mower. When he sold the land he call me to see if I was interested in his tractor.
When I got it, I began cleaning. I built the sun shade, painted the wheels and a few other visual things.
When the previous owner went by, going to the livestock auction, he saw the tractor at the farm. Next time I saw him he asked me where I found another tractor. I told him they're hard to find, but you just have to keep looking. I kept teasing him about that tractor. Told him to stop by and check it over. Sad part of this story is he passed on before he ever knew it was HIS tractor!
He was a neat man. Died at 84. Had been a council member of his town for 48 years. His goal was to make it to 50. It's a small town of 200, or so, residents.
Westendorf's loaders of that vintage were red. I painted it black, rebuilt the cylinders and changed it over to their quick attach system. I use the tractor for baling round bales and feeding them in the winter.
