I have been looking for about 6 months for a clean low hr FEL, 4x4, tractor . I am coming off a 42 HP Ford 3000 2x4 with NO loader. I found a 2002 Kubota 4610, FEL, GST , with 220 hrs like new with Ag tires , for $15,000 with shipping included . BUT for $16,450 out the door , I can get a NEW 2011 Kubota L2900 ( Not sure on number ) But I KNOW its a 30 hp tractor . It has R4 tires , FEL , Hyrostat Trans. Its NEW but lower hp. I am thinking it might be better to get LESS hp , to get NEW for $ 1, 450 MORE . I box blade with a 6 ft , cutters are 6 ft . Not a farmer , just need a tractor to do odd jobs for myself and family/friends . Own 6 acres, grade around 7 driveways , alot of dirt roads ( trails ) , cut yards, bushog some , also do yard work grading . So new with less Hp , or USED with lots of HP ?

Would a 30 hp work for me ?

My opinion - not enough HP. You would be looking for more quite often and will regret the decision to go small. Having already gotten used to a more powerful tractor it would be a disappointment.

If you add a BH, like you want, it will be more apparent.

it is not a B series tractor it is an L series tractor (L2800) and it is 30hp with 25 hp at the PTO. You will have no problem box blading with the 6' blade. However, I think you will be much better off with a 5' brush mower versus the 6' as the 25hp at the pto will drive it much better. However, you can check the gear box on your cutter to see what HP it is rated for.

I think the L2800 would do everything you want it to do and I'm pretty sure that comes standard with a 5 year warranty. However, a 30hp tractor is not going to do what a 45 hp can do.

just happened to be looking around on this site at what was for sale and here is the exact tractor you mentioned with the FEL. it is a 2005

http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3567

I spoke to my Kubota dealer the other day and was asking about different tractors (Under 30 hp) and he told me about the L2800. Kubota is going to discontinue them, replacing them with a different model, which is why the price is so good.

But if you can get it for 16,450 out the door that is a good price (old stock?), is that with a Kubota loader?

2005 model for $13,000 ? I would give $10,000 :D I can get it NEW for $16,450 no tax cash , or $17,450 0 down and 0 % interest for 5 years . I would go NEW for $3450.00 more .

Yes its a NEW 2010 ?? I just know its NEW 0 hrs
L2800 with factory FEL . HST, R4 tires , 30 hp NO TAX

The 2002 L4610 with 220 hrs comes with FEL and 7ft box blade for $13,250 + shipping . So around $14,500 to my door . It looks like new in pics , here is a pic . ( he does have Rollbar . )

So once again , new smaller HP , or older like new BIG HP . I do love the power of my OLD Ford 3000 ( 42-45 HP ) . I am so LOST !!!!:(

You are indeed actually lost, if you think the difference between the two tractors you are "comparing" is HP...

There is a LOT of difference...
The 2002 L4610 with 220 hrs is WAY out front of L2800. BUT if you need someone to point out all the differences, you are not looking... :)KennyV

Its just a 2002 :( but its like new :D

My buddy has a 30 hp 4x4 tractor and he does everything I do with my 2x4 Ford 3000 , I am use to a 40 + hp . If I NEVER had any tractor the L2800 for $16,400 NEw would be sweet . I guess a NEW to me tractor with 220 hrs would be sweet to !!! I guess I am going to get the 4610 , its really clean and low hrs .

What are the differences ?
Hp
size
???????

Hi Goochy,

I have a L 3000 (32 hp) 4wd and it's a little work horse. The 2800 would be fine for you but you are given up tons of extras that come on the 4610. The GST is a big plus and it simply will have more room than the 2800 does. I love my 3000 but it's just getting me by for alot of the jobs I use it for. A 50 hp tractor would be great. I would look at it this way. A 4610 can do everything the 2800 can do but not the other way around. You can't stretch HP. At 220 hrs the 4610 isn't even broke in good yet.

My dad is telling me to BUY BIG ! I agree a good 40 hp will do what a 30 will and MORE . I want to rent or buy a backhoe for the rear , so I would need the 4610 for sure . Thanks for ALL info , I have been looking for a 4x4 tractor for about 6-8 months . I am going to get the 2002 l4610 with 229 hrs on the clock ! It sure looks new in pics .

From the looks of that 4610 in the pics I would be proud to own it. To be 9 yrs old that is as close to new as you can get. I would change all the fluid and filters so you will know for sure it's been done right and up to date then go have some fun.

The only other thing I think it needs is a fresh coat of wax and a roof.

My wife is like . " why do we need a 40 + HP tractor at almost $15,000 for 2 different lots of ONLY 3 acreas each !!! ?" My " master plan " was to buy a newer 30 hp tractor 4x4, FEl , and have a great used tractor for $10,000 . Then I would sell my Ford 3000 for $4000 and have $6000.00 in a clean used 30 hp tractor . But after talking to dealers , friends, and yall . Looks like I need to STAY with a 40 + hp tractor , becuase I am use to a 40 hp tractor , and the 40 HP will do everything a 30 hp will do and ALOT more !

I found local today , A Woods backhoe for 40 + hp tractor , came off a Kubota , its orange :D, with all hook ups ( PTO pump ) and arm that go under tractor for $3600.00 firm , he said in like new cond ! He said I would have to buy " Belly clips " for under tractor and it would work great on a 4610  I need the 4610 and the woods backhoe WOW that would tear up some stuff !

I guess I am going to pull the trigger , I'll have $15,000 in it with shipping , but I think it would bring $17,000 around the south this summer ? Kubota tractors are like GOLD around the south !

I think you will be very pleased with that tractor. If you're not drop me a line and I'll bring my 32hp bota to you and take that one of your hands.

I just hate to spend so much to use it so little :(. But everything around this area for $9000-$12,000 is small HP or just JUNK . I wanted to spend around $10,000 for nice rig , but nothing around here for that price . I also wanted R4 tires , but for $13,250 + shipping , I think this L4610 is a smoking deal ! :D

I missed where you said this tractor is located. Hope it is not a Craigslist scam.

It sounds like you are buying it from the photos and description rather than seeing/running it in person. You may want to consider a trip to see it and meet the owner before any cash changes hands.

Not trying to be negative - just careful.

The ONLY way cash is changing hands is that I pick it up in person , OR my buddy picks it up , and I trust him to drive it , and make sure it runs/looks good . I have not seen it in person , but he has sent me like 50 + photos and we have talked a few times on phone . Not off craigslist , but still could be scam ??? I hate not trusting people , but I trust NO ONE !

That is a fine looking tractor. I think you'll be really happy you bought it. If you use it to mow grass and decide you need some turf tires for it, let me know. I've got a set that I have no use for and I think they will fit this one.
