3 Point Log Skidder

Anybody out there build your own log skidder for your 3 Point Hitch? Looking for pics or plans.

Picked up these skidder tongs for $40 new and want to make a skidder.

You could get a boom pole and pick up one end of the log so it would dig a ditch in the ground as you drag.

Yea use a boom pole...
I bet I'll be able to tell you the color of face (sheet white) and your shorts (poo brown) when your done trying that!

If your trying to use your B8200 as a skidder, I hope your talking the proper 3 point skidder.
Using logging tongs off the back of a small tractor can be pretty scary if not done right.
Here are a few different models to copy from if you still want to try it.

No pics, but I made a simple short boom pole to skid with on the L3800. Works great!

Yeah, I googled it and saw those pics too. Just thought someone might have had a different idea. I bought some heavy tube stock to build one which is alot cheaper than the boom pole. $30 in steel. Just want something to lift the front of the log up a few inches to clear. Have plenty of weight up front plus check chains to keep it from pulling up too high to prevent unwanted rollovers.

I made an A frame that locks into my quick hitch and has a clevis at the top for a chain or strap and a ball hitch at the bottom for moving or hauling a trailer. The clevis at the top works great for a skidder with just a chain alone or with chain and log tongs.

I trust you all know what North Idaho Wolf man means. I also trust you know the risks of pulling anything from a point above the axle level. A loaded front bucket will do wonders to make you safer. The lower you leave the log, the safer you are as the tractor tips up over backwards.

In any case make sure the wife has kept the insurance premiums paid.

That's exactly what I meant by a proper 3 point log skidder!

Well with some simple of ones head a boom pole will work just fine if you run a chain from the end of the pole to the log and lift it up just enough to drag it. I didn't mean to pick the entire log up.

Thoses are the same logging tongs I bought a few months back Phildac...they work great and I used them today as matter of fact.

I built one for my 1980 B7100D a couple of years ago (and posted on here at the time). The chain passes through the tow loop on the trailer hitch & then hooks at the top of the trailer mover/skidder - lifting with the 3 point but pulling down low from the trailer hitch. That winter I used it to skid out 10 cord of Maple logs for firewood. Perfect conditions as a couple of hard freezes had solidified the swampy areas & there was 6 or 8 inches of snow which made skidding easy. Never once did the front end attempt to lift up even while climbing an incline. Little tractor was amazing with what it could lift/pull & hardly had to clear any trails to get around to the logs. Had a ball!

Finally got around to building the skidder last weekend. Cut and welded the pieces on Saturday and painted Sunday. I made it to fit my T-Bar with the 2" receiver. I used 1/4" thick 2"x2" square stock. I'll add a check chain from the draw bar to the log to help keep the front tires on the ground.

I remember seeing your rig a while back. Amassing what these small Botas can do when set up right.
