So tonight I pulled the fuel shut off valve out and with the 9 volts supplied by the tractor the small piston in the valve is not opening. I would post a picture of the valve but this site is not allowing it at the moment. Also before I even posted on this site the service depart at the dealer I purchased the tractor from made it very clear I was not covered by any warranty. This dealer also get a zero on the helpful scale and has received the last and only 40k they will ever get out of me.

So the questions now... has anyone removed one of these and tested one to see the piston move? Is the 9volts supplied by the tractor the correct voltage?

I have been looking at the diagrams in the shop manual, the electromagnetic pump sucks fuel through the water separator and past a check valve to some sort of fuel sub tank. The feed pump sucks fuel from the fuel tank via the same sub tank and the fuel cooler before passing it through the fuel filter. Therefore seeing fuel at the fuel filter might not guarantee that the water separator valve is open or closed, or if that line is clogged. It is just one simple thing to rule out before getting in to the electronically controlled parts

Heli, you should have received a pamphlet with your tractor that details the parts that have a 5 year warranty that is mandated by the federal government. The only reason your dealer should not honor that is if you have messed with the emissions control system. If not then you might want to contact Kubota.

If you do have warranty remaining, seems like you are shooting yourself in the foot messing around where you don't have information. At least get a shop manual.

The valve you are fiddling with is probably actually the suction control valve (SCR) it receives a pwm signal from the computer to control rail pressure. nothing like a fuel shut off valve at all. The fuel is controlled by the computer, it opens and closes the injectors at the right time and for the correct length of time from signals it gets from the crank sensor, the cam sensor the throttle position sensor and various other sensors for air temp fuel temp, coolant temp etc.etc.. Once again you cannot just guess at what is wrong with it! the only way is with the correct tools. You run the risk of causing thousands of dollars more damage if you haven't done so already. Surely there are other dealers not to far away if the selling dealer is a dud?

You are correct what I thought was a fuel shut off is indeed some type of sensor fuel sensor. I spent some time at the service shop today and they actually disconnected the same sensor on a new tractor and fired it up with no issues, not even a single code came up. Their initial thought is that I just need to crank it over a bunch to prime the system. So tonight that's all that I am going to do and if I strike out I will tow the little orange disappoint in for a service repair. I have always had to repair my own equipment from cars to snaking the toilet so this is frustrating but I am running blind on this and could do far more harm than good.

Unfortunately that's how it is now, you don't get to work on them anymore, even who you take it to may not know the ins and outs, they just plug the computer in and start changing parts, and unless there is someone very "switched on" on the end of that computer, you'll end up paying for things you don't need!
This isn't your engine, but if you have a quick scan, you'll soon realize how much of a monster you are dealing with.

Have a good look at your fuel system, is it similar/different than this?
(1) Injector (2) Rail (3) Pressure Limiter (4) Supply Pump (5) Fuel Cooler (6) Fuel Filter (7) Check Valve
(8) SCV (Suction Control Valve) (9) Fuel Feed Pump (10) Water Separator (11) Fuel Tank A: ECU for Engine B: ECU for Tractor C: Sensor D: Injected Fuel Flow E: Returned Fuel Flow

100td thanks for that pdf. Scary indeed. My favorite page was the one that described stages of learning in a part :eek:

Very interresting.....and scary

So while sitting the tractor working through the priming process i started playing with the dash features and came across a error P0627. Fuel pump "A" short circuit

100 td, I have a similar diagram in my wsm which covers all the L60 tractors, and there are several differences in the fuel routing. Basic premise the same. One of the pumps, the feed pump, is supposed to lie between the fuel cooler and the fuel filter, and is supposed to have priming pump on it. I thought that was interesting. Picture looks kind of like the one I have seen pressed on my 2003 truck by a mechanic trying to get it started, but I've never had occasion to look for it on my tractor.

I'll see if I can add a photo.

IIRC you previously said that pump was working, it may have drawn a higher than normal current when there was a blocked filter or similar, can you reset the code and try again?

After checking for all codes.............
Info from a 3560, may work for yours?
Turns out it must be reset from the dash by holding the display button while turning on the key. Cycle to D on the display. Hold the display button to enter D. Hold the display button to reset the error code, then power off to save the reset.

The fuel pump is working in regards to filling the water trap and priming the fuel filter but like you said there could be a current issue. I just hope its not #4 on the diagram.

P0627 is set by an open circuit to the SCR valve. you probably caused it when you were testing it yesterday. Tractor should run with it at 50% performance but it should correct if you turn the ignition on then off. (but it will still show up in your panel when you scroll through.

I had looked for the code before I posted and everything I found said OPEN circuit, not short circuit, I guessed it happened when unplugged, but erred on the side of caution for high current or chewed wiring (short circuit), in case Kubota's reporting system was wrong!

Well if it is you never know you may be lucky, it does have a woodruff key driving it! (You would have to check your particular parts diagram) Open/remove the outlet fitting and see if anything is happening, be careful of HP sprayed fuel.

A short circuit is code P0628
