I am currently installing a fence and using a 55 gallon drum with electric water pump to shuttle water away form primary water source to set the poles. This works well for me when using jumper cables from the electric motor to he battery.
To avoid closing and opening the hood the entire time, I bought a cigarette plug adapter with cord. I ran this from the 12v plug to the pump. When I turned it on to test it worked good and fixed my inconvenience issue. On work day (of course right) I hooked up the motor and plugged the cigarette plug into the outlet. I heard a pop and observed the plug itself had fried.
Is this because the switch was on when being plugged in? Anyone use this plug for similar reasons?
