Howdy,

As usual, the rear rims on my L2250 are rusting away due to the calcium chloride issue. I have a chance to pick up a very nice set of 11.2-24 rims & tires in almost new condition. Granted, these are larger then the 9.5-24s that are currently on there, but my local Kubota service guy said I could use the larger ones as long as I kept the fronts as they are. He looked it up and claimed the larger rims were also offered on the L2250, but I was wondering if there's anyone out there who's actually doing it.

My other option is to spring for a set of new rims from Wold Rim at a cost of about $775.00 delivered.

Any opinions out there?

Thanks.. RUT

I believe the rims are the same, the tires are larger. What front wheels do you have?

I believe the fronts are 6.5-14. And oddly enough, the dealer said NOT to change them out.

I believe the 11.2 tires are taller than the 9.5 you have. If so they won't match you front tires and will cause problems in 4wd.

I found specs for the 11.2x24 at Titan and it says 43.5 dia, what I found for the 9.5x24 says 40 dia. If that's correct the 11.2 will cause problems. If you need a measurement to double check I have 11.2 on my L3000.

My L2050DT is just a little newer but wears the same shoes. The WSM made the wheel combinations much more clear than the operator manual did. It had 6-14 on front and 11.2+24 on the rear when I got it and would be difficult to disengage from 4wd. I wound up purchasing new 7-16 front rims and tires and everything is lovely. Also learned that the lead ratios on current Kubota run from 1.03-1.07:1 whereas the older ones typically used 1.1:1 and that using the static load radius or rolling circumference on new tires is best used for that calculation. Just relying on stated tire sizes might not obtain the best results. What to do about new fronts to old rears or verse vica is not clear and especially the rear tires are horribly expensive. Lots of opinions out there.

Well, thanks for all the input and advise guys, but given what I know and have heard I think I'll just stick with what I've got, size wise. There are just too many unknowns and conflicting stories to make me want to chance mucking up the drive train. I'll hopefully be able to get by with my current rims for the winter, but come spring I'll probably have Wold Rim make me up a couple of brandy new ones. One thing's for sure, there will be no calcium chloride in my future! ;)
