Torn up LA723 - and the repair

All done, finished up last weekend. Quick paint job, remount and grease and we were back in the dirt last friday, the 27th. Everything held up great so far. I will post some pictures asap. Overall not a terrible repair and it sure beat paying $1400 for new loader arms. I think the damage...

L3400 DT stalls when put in gear

You didn't just service the air filter did you? If your in a hurry, you can accidently insert the innner filter backwards - similar results. Don't ask how I know this.:D

L3830 fuel tank pick up location ?

I have this same tractor; I usually try to keep it above a quarter tank to avoid the chance of this happening. If you have sucked air into the fuel system, there is a procedure for purging, same as used for when you change fuel filter I think? I believe I found a how-to on the web one time...

Torn up LA723 - and the repair

Thanks for the feedback. This has been a challenging repair, not quite done yet. still need to paint. I do believe the mount is now better than original and will outlast the loader.:)

Torn up LA723 - and the repair

OK - I was sidetracked for a while but have made a bit of progress on the repair. Got everything fitted welded up and in primer now. Wish my welding was better, more like Wildfire's. Why is it your best welding always occurs at the END of the project?:o

Skeets... Washington PA? I'm originally from Altoona many years ago. Still have family there. Don't be too impressed. Just takes patience and planning. Cheers - Bob

    LA 854 Grease Fittings

Had two broke on my LA723. You'd think being recessed they'd survive better. Ordered OEM replacements with my pins, maybe they are not so good, huh? These are metric zerks, no?

Torn up LA723 - and the repair

Thanks everyone for chiming in on this. I appreciate all the comments. Nice dozers - glad to see I'm not the only one with the "equipment disease." Anyone else a member of ACMOC as well?:D By the way, I discovered you can do a whole lot more unintentional damage much more quickly with a dozer...

Torn up LA723 - and the repair

On reflection, rather than the original C-C measurement, the more critical issue is the alignment of the stop block on the QA/Bucket pivot as shown. Any thoughts?

Torn up LA723 - and the repair

Because of the way the metal is pulled out at the end (it split toward the front of the tractor first and then apppears to have spread, right at the narrowest portion of the profile) it looks as if it was stressed in tension. Almost as if the tractor was used to pull from the bucket in reverse...

    L 3010 Head Light bulbs??

There's lots of sources for LEDs, just google "LED auto bulbs". The cool thing is they're very bright with low amps and almost no heat. I think even the auto parts stores have these now. I like this idea. Since my tractor is in my shop right now, I'll take a look this evening and see what...

Torn up LA723 - and the repair

That was my thought too, I've kinda been estimating and shooting for the nearest metric, which has worked surprisingly well thus far. Looks like 195mm C-C to me. With all the slop in the balance of the bucket lnks, it won't make much of a difference. In fact, I was thinking about rebushing...

    L 3010 Head Light bulbs??

Don't know that I would use halogens, could it melt the plastic? But I am entrigued by the thought of LEDs. Sound expensive though. I agree, the headlight is weak. I've been thinking about some way to put floods on top of the guard, sort of like a snow plow. If you do a conversion, post it...

Torn up LA723 - and the repair

Thanks for the compliment - this is a first-time project for me.:) Still would appreciate if someone out there could take a quick measurement on the pin C-C distance. I'd like to get her welded up tonight. Anybody out there with an LA 723? Thanks - Bob
