While shifting ranges be sure you''re actually engaging the gear. There's a kind of neutral area between gears. In addition to checking linkages as Hokie suggested check play on the clutch.

Since it’s a hst there is only one input shaft on transmission ,so If the clutch is pooched the pto will not work,if it would be the gear drive model the pto input shaft is spline to the fly wheel so it would not affect pto

Just checked and the pto starts and stops with the clutch

That mean your main clutch is ok make sure the shaft attached to your hst pedal linkage is turning inside the transmission housing when you move the pedal (doing it’s full stroke)if that ok make sure the range lever linkage is ok visually, do you ear anything at all when you try to move?last resort you can remove hst filter and dump it upside down and make sure there is no brass filing in it(that would indicate a hst valve plate/slipper failure) probly not

Not sure if it'd help, but can you move the tractor just a few inches with another vehicle? Then try shifting again.....

Since it’s a hst there is only one input shaft on transmission.......
There are really TWO power shafts from the engine going in the front of the HST - one drives the HST, and the second one runs in a tube through the HST unit, continuing rearward to drive the pto. All Lxx10 models have gearing in the clutch housing driving these shafts. Some of the power goes through the HST (a variable-speed reversing coupling for the driving wheels. The rest is for pto equipment.

That said, when an HST tractor stops moving the cause might be as simple as a disconnected linkage (most common) or it might be something more serious inside.

Hope Linder Mountain will tell us more about tractor hours, owners, how long, how did tractor operate right before it stopped moving. Any major repairs? Any noises? Is there any motion at all in either direction?

Part 5 in the pic above is the gearbox where the pto shaft is driven. Pic below shows the second shaft (upper right) coming thru the HST above the charge pump

Hi there,
Did you ever find a solution? I've just had a similar thing happen with my 2710..

Cheers
LM hasn't been seen here in a while. You might want to start a new thread.

Be sure to give a good description of what lead up to your problem and good background info like hours, last maintenance, etc,....all helps.

Last post from Linder Mountain was 3-1/2 years ago!
It would seem that he is not around anymore.
