So we bought this old tractor a year ago it had a bad head gasket sending oil into coolant and a bunch of leaks... crazy cheap and literally..... poor matinance all around. I keep finding things and step by step it's become a really great tractor. Fuel pumps turned up so it's running like 150 not 105 and idk how to turn it down but.... it works great.
Soo many things most recent was their is a plug looking thing on the hydraulics that looks like just a plug and it was leaking so someone tightened it down to stop the leak. Whole time we had it the hydraulics would get crazy hot even just running a pto pump and I'm like..... why? Well 1 the trans cooler was caked with old dirt and oil from the previously bad head gasket.... Secondly that little plug is the bypass regulator to set hydraulic pressure.... and it was turned all the way in. No Idea how much pressure that poor pump was trying to maintain constantly but I'm sure that's the source of the heat..... huge restriction. It just needed an Oring and it's good now.
Turning it out like 12 turns brought me to a pressure of 2100 psi so what was it holding before like... 4000?
So suddenly the already strong tractor is stronger and dosen't have a heat issue and one less leak.
So this issue was causing the engine to overheat to for the previous owner so they removed the engine thermostats (has 2 for some reason) it was loading the engine at low rpm.
1500 cad for this tractor.... I thought it was trash but yea.. just bad basic matinance
