Grandson Jarod (23) running the excavator. Grandson Casey (31) supervising. (Seems fair, it's his excavator...) Grandpa (71) running the Idiot Spoon!

To be fair, we traded off while digging a trench to run power to my daughter's chicken coop for a heated water bucket.

Casey just got the John Deere 26G for his side business doing landscaping and lot clearing. This is in addition to his day job as a mechanic at a Power Sports dealership. Kid's got some hustle!

Tried to talk him into a Kubota, but he cut the best deal with a JD dealer.

Well, by the time you add fiber for the internet, a loop for the in-floor heat, power for the AC...

Actually, that's the smallest bucket he has at the moment. He does plan to get a trenching bucket for it eventually.

IMHO narrow trenching buckets are problematic.
12" trenching buckets are readily plugged in anything but just plain sand.
