Hi. I have a M5091 with no front weights at the moment. I'm looking to pull an average sized 4 furrow plough around. Was wondering if and how much weight I would need on the front to keeps things pulling nicely?

Thanks.

Others will have to chime in but I don't need any front weight on my L4701 in 2wd pulling a five foot disk.

I pull a DH1572 disc harrow with my Grand L6060 with no weights at all and no issues. We have level ground that goes from rock hard to medium with some areas having rocks in it. Other might chime in on what different dirt conditions might need weights though.

Depends mostly upon your ground and plow size. A 4X14 pulls much easier than a 4X16 or 18.

In some of my ground, I would need a full set of front weights to pull a 4X14 plow with my M9960.

You will also need AG tires and rear ballast.

I am with SDT. What type of soil? Flat or hilly? How is your tractor set up? Are your tires loaded? Do you have wheel weights? Do you have a FEL? Have you tried to plow with the tractor as it is? How much land are you going to plow? Is this a one time thing or are you going to farm with it?

I mean the easy answer is to buy the rack to hold the weights and then fill it up with weights. But if you have a FEL you could fill it with some scrap iron and chain it in and not spend the money for the weights.

Have you tried plowing as is ? Was there a lot of front wheel slippage? Did the rear tire slip?

And a video would be nice to see the county side.

I use to pull 3x16 plow with my M6800 4WD with rear weights in moderate clay and loam soils. It would grunt at times.
