What sort of hydraulic pump for a "B219" look alike.

Hi,

I am in the process of building a loader for my B7001. I am following some measurements i obtained from "Lil Foot". As far as cylinders go i have ordered a set with sizes obtained through online reading and such. I am quite handy with welding and design but I am mixed up when it comes to the hydraulic pump. I contacted a local machinist/engineer who said he can fabricate a splined bush to match the crankshaft PTO - he is visiting the tractor tomorrow for measurements/pitch design. (hope it will be ok)

I have read that the B219 came with a 5gpm hydraulic pump. some people say they installed 4gpm pumps.

My question is What is the difference between group 1 and group 2 pumps?

The pumps i am following on online shops give a reading of cc/rev.
8cc/rev x 2800rpm = 22,000 = 24lpm = 5.8gpm
9cc/rev x 2800rpm = 25000 = 25lpm = 6.6gpm

Do these calculations make sense?

(Pressure is not important as the spool valve on the b219 is set to 800PSI or 55Bar)

Thanks
Joseph

Maybe depends on who makes the pumps ?? I'd have to see the specs from the mfr to understand just what 'group 1' and '2' really mean.
As for the pump calculations...more is better

I do not think any loader was designed to operate at 800 psi.

You need to be careful on the direction of rotation of any pump you buy.

Believe the group reference has to do with shaft configuration and the mounting frame size. i.e tapered shaft or straight shaft

Hay Dave, Older JD garden tractors (aka 300 series) had 800PSI systems for the loaders. I know that as I made a 'selfleveling' loader setup for one years ago.

If it helps, the original B219 crank driven pump was a Cessna 24205-20 or 24205-2C. (not sure about that last digit/letter)
I know it is not available anymore, but maybe you could find the specs for it.

As for the pressure, I have verified mine at 800psi.

Hi,

I have a downloaded B219 Manual, pictures are not clear but easy to understand. I wish to stay within parameters (pressure/oil capacity etc)

Tomorrow i am going to pick up a machinist to come and check the splines and pitch. Hopefully he ca-n machine a bush to replace the first set of chain couplers. I want it to be removable if possible - so i need a shaft like the one used for the electromagnetic clutch. A Jaw coupling will be used on the others side.

The seller on e-bay (looks like an established hydraulic supplier in the UK) I am in Malta so easier for me than USA. The company has group 1 and group 2 pumps. they are both with a 1 1:8 tapered shaft. Group 1 seems to be of a low flow. Group 2 seem to be of a higher flow rating. The input shafts differ, Group 1 are narrower slightly.

I certainly accept what you are saying.

In my experience the lowest loader pressure on a normal farm tractor loader was 1,500 psi and its cylinders were very large.

The same loader could be ordered for 2,400 psi and the cylinders were much smaller.

The one with the large cylinders was quite slow due to the volume of oil to move.

The seller that I am dealing with/just ordered the cylinders from him - 3Omm (1.125") rod 50mm (2") bore sent me this link with specs of the hydraulic cylinders. for such cylinders/bores the graph show how they can push move a lot at 50Bar - more than the B7001 will actually need to.

On a good note the machinist said that the sleeve can be done. Still unsure about pump. At 18mm he told me don't over do it with the pump as it is pretty thin and can snap if the hydraulic pump is under "load".

18mm = +- 3/4" over here in Canada,eh.... 7HP gas engines have 3/4" shafts here BTW,as a power reference.
the 'plumbing' should have the pressure relief set at say 850#, so pump won't fail due to excessive 'load'. Overspecing the pump builds in a good safety factor. When choosing, be SURE you can get replacement parts ! While several places have 'discounted' pumps they may be 'specials' and internals not easy to come by.
