At the tractor ends of each lift arm, there's a bracket I'm not familiar with. What was it used for? See the orange piece in the faint red diamond. Backhoe perhaps? Thanks

That is a frame mounted backhoe mounting bracket like you thought. I have the same thing on my B2920.

It’s on a used L4240 I’m looking at. No backhoe on it at present. The tractor is very clean, and my only concern is whether the backhoe may have been hard on the tractor. It has about 1000 hours but looks almost like new in the pics. I’m going to get eyes on it tomorrow. Price is $27K. Any input is welcomed.

Chim, I'm guessing the tractor has a loader? 27K seems a tad high, but you haven't actually began dealing with the owner yet, maybe there's wiggle room. I don't know how much the tractor difference is with vs. without a cab.

I bought an L4240 almost two years ago, I think 2007 was when it was purchased, about 680 hours with the 854 loader, open station, clean but not perfect. Man traded it in to dealer in Jackson, Tn. I bought it from them for 17K.

I considered it a good price because I looked for nearly 8 months to find one. One other one I found sold before I could get off my teeter totter for the same price!

The value on the ..40 series tractors has gone up since the ..60 series came out.

This is a factory cabbed version. It does have the 854 loader, and the price seems in line with what I've been seeing on tractorhouse and a couple others. Another 3 grand would get me a new cabbed Mahindra 2638, but I'm not really confident in the Mahindra dealers around here. The no-DPF on Mahindra or Pre-Tier 4 have my interest though.

With the 4 point mount for the backhoe it isn't as hard on the tractor than if the backhoe was a 3 point mount. I wouldn't worry about that at all.

Chim,

Hard to believe you would deny yourself the fulfillment and satisfaction from designing and fabricating your own cab for this tractor ?? Factory A/C really ?
I've had sufficient fulfillment and satisfaction from doing the L3200 cab in my avatar. The most challenging part was making it a shape (other than a cube). Getting the odd-shaped doors to swing properly and latch up well when closing them was cause for a small celebration at the time.

It's nice, but approaching 70 it's time for more creature comfort:D
