Welded a hook on my bh77 backhoe bucket today. Works great. Got the hook from boltonhooks.com

A hook on the bucket are very handy. It is great to pick up a log (or trans!) and be able to easily move it back and forth and side to side for exact placement.

Had one installed on my backhoe bucket when the tractor was new in 2003, and rarely ever used it. The hooks on the front bucket got most of the use.

I’ll probably barely ever use mine too, but when i need It, it’s there. And it was $35 and took maybe 15 mins to do the whole project

Nice welding job, looks good. Was there a reason you went with that style hook instead of the hook that locks between the chain links?

Thanks man, and my main reason on that hook on the hoe, is for safety. We used to have a mini at work with a chain hook on it, and it’s too easy to make a mistake when someone is working below you. Super easy to get slack and come off the hook. For the hoe I’d pretty much always try to use straps. Or cables

Like how your bucket gussets help protect the your hook and latch. Have welded chain grab hooks for similar use. Nice job.

Nice welds!

Doing hook on my loader bucket now. I've got a Millermatic 180 but can't weld that nice.
Any chance you want to stop by and do mine? 😁
