I have a customer from my farmers markets that has a several 3 point implements that he is wanting to sell and I am interested in this one bottom plow.

Anyone what it would be worth? I was thinking around $100.

That looks to be in great shape with a sod cutter! $100 is cheap, go ahead and throw that number at him. Find out what they cost new shipped and make your judgements from there. If you walk away with it for less than half of the new price, that's a good deal in my book. Had a guy around me trying to sell an old rusty one for $500, not far off from a new one.

I've been looking for a 2 bottom one for a while now. They are running $250-$400 on Craigslist. New they are around $350-$500.
One bottom is probably good for $150-$200 in the shape that one looks to be in. Also, I'd stay on the higher side of that as it looks like you might be able to wrangle up another bottom for that one to bolt on the other side.

OldeEnglish,

Yes, plows around here are about $100 a bottom. Plus or minus of course. That one looks like it is in good shape. You may want to give him more for it.

Speaking of bottoms, out here when we go to town, we have seen several 2,3, and even 4 bottom units walking down the sidewalk.

Around here, old brinly garden tractor plows go for $100 or MORE! With the coulter, and gauge wheel(upside down in picture), that one would likely fetch $2-250...:D

Thanks for the information. I was excited to see the cutting wheel and a guide wheel too. We will see how low he will go. Most likely he will be willing to take some cash and trade the rest for produce or maybe all produce, who knows. We just need to settle on a price, your information will help as a guide.

Thanks,

Jay

jrslick, plant an extra row of sweet corn and trade him corn and tomatoes. On this side of the state that would easily bring $175-250.

OldeEnglish, if you have any iron working tools you can come up with one REAL cheap.

I'll go get a picture of mine. I had it on my L305 yesterday cutting a ditch by my drive. I got an old 2 bottom pull type plow. The kind folks seem to like in their yard for ornaments. Cut off one beam. Made the 3-pt bracket and welded on. Had it for 20 years.

Nice D2! I have a neighbor up the street that has an old green one like that for decoration. I'll have to keep my eye out for an old plow, but I'm guessing they fetch a nice buck around here as an antique. I'm thinking of throwing an offer on the JD one I found, but I'll have to check with the boss. She says I'm a hoarder, I say...yeah and you have a damm shoe fetish :D.

My father in-law said had an old horse drawn one that his drunk of a brother in-law scrapped for beer. He always says he wants to take the drunk deer hunting and dress him in brown :p.
