Update! DPF level when to expect regen

L47 TLB, had it about a year but it has yet to do a regen cycle. The PM level is showing 91%. is this normal? When can I expect a regen? Machine has right around 200 hours, I got it with about 165ish hours. Thanks, all. Oh, and I have never used the inhibit button or gotten any indication{light, buzzer} that it wanted a regen. Thanks again.

You should be able to do a forced regeneration if you want to.

You hopefully have the operating manual and may want to get the work shop manual. The operating manual should cover all you need to know about the emissions system operations.

Look at Kubota books dot com if you don’t have the manual.

I have the operators manual, there is no mention of forced regen. There is inhibit, auto, and parked, which all, as I understand it, have to wait for the tractor to "ask" for a regen. Found same info searching youtube, etc. Thanks

You might have been running it hot enough so you either don't notice the regen or one hasn't happened yet.

My MX6000 did its first regeneration at 75 hours.

I believe a forced regen is only done using dealer disgnostic software.

I dont know what the PM monitor is measuring (91% of what???) but at that level I would expect one soon. Patience, you have only been using it for ~35 hours ...

During the summer months, I can go all summer without a regen because I spend most of the time mowing and running the tractor hard. My regen % level will actually drop during the hard use. In the winter time, the tractor is not worked as hard, plus there is the warm up idle time added and I will typically regen 30-40 hrs, again just depending on how hard you are working the tractor.

Once you go 100% and the line moves all the way over, you will go into a regen.

If memory serves me correctly 'PM' is the particulate matter and the percentage of build up in the regen canister.

Reading in the manual, it states that PM is the measurement of the "PM volume status".

Yes. My question was percentage of what. Could be 100% of saturated, 100% of allowable before regen, or something else.

The explanations I found in the manual was vague, so unfortunately, I don't have an answer. Hopefully one of the experts will be able to chime in and educate us. I'm curious, my assumption, which could be 100% wrong, is that it was measuring the restriction in the canister and once it hit a 100%, it was time to burn off. Yet, I'm not a mechanic and I did not sleep at a Holiday Inn last night.

Having written and reviewed my share of manuals over the years I don't find that surprising. Good technical writers are worth way more than they pay.

Since its an operator display the intuitive answer (to me) is its the percentage of accumulation allowed before a regen.

I believe the measurement used to monitor that is flow restriction through the canister - e.g differential pressure drop inlet to outlet. I would expect that to be well short of "totally plugged". Otherwise there would be no way to conduct a regen.

PM is particulate matter. so I assume the dpf is 91% full? I talked to a service tech, he said this is unusual but if no codes, etc, keep running it.

My L6060 always goes to 100% before it regens. It may even go to 101% just as it is getting ready to regen. My engine does need to be fairly warm, and at least 2000 rpm before the regen will start.

Even my dealer's service manager did not know when the regen would happen. He even said " keep using it, and see what happens". Luckily they have a new service manager now.

Parked is for doing a parked regen yourself.

At work, we have a doosan forklift that doesn't get run long enough at a time to complete a regen cycle.

So I do a parked regen on it once every 3 to 4 months.

I start the unit, trigger the parked regen and walk away from it. I come back about 5 minutes after it goes back to idle since it has a cool down cycle before the regen is complete.

Make sure the switch is in auto when running your unit.

The manual should tell you how to do a parked regen on it as well.

It does, but not a forced regen. Parked regen only when the machine calls for it.

Tractors are probably the same as light duty trucks. DPF % is the pressure delta across the castration device (filter) relative to the allowed pressure drop. So 0% is not completely clean and 100% is not full. If 100% were full then it would be blocked.
(Arbitrary numbers) Let's say that the maximum allowed pressure drop is 0.075" hg. The gas still flows, but there is a restriction. The minimum allowed is 0.015 because the filter itself is a restriction even when new. So 0- 100% = 0.015- 0.075"
I have seen the % at 110 on my truck when I get the "drive to clean" message. It also goes into regen every 500 miles regardless of % on the DPF. If you don't see >100% and no idiot lights, I wouldn't worry.
