Trouble with MMM linkage NOT lower linkage low enough to MMM.

Have issues with both my BX1870's. MMM linkage will NOT lower down far enough to hookup MMM. Height adjustment dial is set on "0". Rear 3-pt valve works find and but don't think this regulates the MMM linkage, just the 3-pt lowering. Have to lift up MMM some to hookup. In years past never had this issue. MMM linkage would always lower more than enough to hookup MMM. Again dial set on "0", even tried "1", no difference. Any ideas or similar trouble? Tks.

You have to lower the 3pt all the way, it is what raises the MMM linkage.

If It were one tractor I would have suggested maybe the position device (not sure what to call that piece) that is on the rod that has the numbers might have shifted. But two tractors with the same symptom. Unlikely.

Are you doing the installation at the same place as previously? Could the area have a dip where you are now trying to install the mowers?

Two tractors, two identical issues, seems really strange.

Trying to imagine what could be the common issue here. Conclusion?

Must be the operator! ROFLMAO (just joking)

I don't own that model, but are the 3 point and MMM linkage linked? If so, can you step on the 3 point arms and see if it lowers more? Does your model have the flow control valve for the 3 point? Maybe its not open enough? Is something contacting the 3 point or the MMM linkage so it stops its from lowering?

Or like Henro said, the MMM itself is lower for some reason.

I am seeing the opposite issue with my Bx1880. When it had the original smaller tires, the MMM would not lower all the way to the ground and to get the MMM off and on, I had to pry on it and lift to get the linkages to line up. Now, with the bigger tires (BX2380 size), the MMM makes it all the way to the ground. I am thinking that I did not have the height knob right at zero before.

All on flat concrete floor, have tried several dial positions. No big deal, will just lift mmm up some. Tks.

After you have used the MMM, does it lower it all the way down to disconnect or do you have to lift up or let it drop a small amount?

Don't remember last fall when I took it off. However it seems it did go down to remove mmm.

Just to confirm. You refer to the issue in this post in the singular. Is the issue with TWO tractors, or just one?

If only one tractor, try setting the mower deck position knob at each position 1 and 4 and see if it makes any difference. (using my memory, I think the high is 4 and and 0 is the low, so 0 is between 1 and 4) What I mean is set the adjustment at both sides of the minimum and see if that makes a difference.

There is a disk on the shaft of the height adjustment knob, that essentially has a different thickness for each position, and this thickness sets how much the deck will drop for each setting. IF it shifted, this could cause your situation. You CAN solve this issue! It is not a rocket science setup.

Edit: I meant IF the disk shifted the old zero could end up now being between numbers on the knob...I do not even remember if there is a zero setting, probably not. But if the disk on that shaft shifted, the net result woud be the same. Shifting can only increase the stopping distance of the lowering function, regardless of the numbers involved.

If it went down with the weight of the MMM, I would look for things (linkages, pivot point, arms and etc.) that need to be lubed/greased and/or cleaned (on both the MMM mounting hardware and the 3pt. hitch).

Just to be clear, you don't have an implement connected to the 3pth do you? If so, it will hit the ground when you lower it all the way, but the 3pth will still be above it's lowest possible location, because it is held above that by whatever you have connected. Probably a shot in the dark.

This is also great advice...something is limiting downward travel of the linkage. Just a matter of figuring out what it is...

Just another thought. Does the mower deck stop lowering at some point while the 3PH still lowers more? This would indicate something holding the deck up independent of the 3PH, similar to what the height adjustment mechanism does...
