Hello,
This is an awesome forum and I lurked and studied here for a couple of months before I bought my L3800DT last week. I live on a farm, and will work a moderately sized garden, and after reading much info here I chose the R-1s. Holy cow! They are grippy- you guys weren't kidding. I tilled my garden plot (new ground) covered in snow- not so much as a slip or a whimper from the R-1s. Drove down into the creek and scooped river rock from the center of the foot deep water.... again, not so much as a raised eyebrow. Only issue I have is in the soft feed lot, and on my (muddy) dirt roads, the darn tires are narrow and do cut a pretty footprint into the ground- especially with a full loader. I'm coming from a larger 4wd tractor with a bigger footprint up front and didn't predict this result.
So, I made a mistake and have a nice pair of wheels/tires posted in the classifieds to trade for R-4s.
I figured I'd post this in the tire section to share my experience with the R-1s and caution anyone working on softer ground that these smaller tires do get excellent traction... but may be a little too agreesive if you are working in soft areas.
Thanks, work safe,
