Torque wrench

My old click style 1/2" snap-on torque wrench "disappeared" from the back of my truck. My fault for trusting people. Any recommendations for a good replacement for torqueing bolts on the Kubota at a fair price.
I like quality tools but to replace it with another snap-on is a lot of $.

Ive been fairly impressed with Kobalt tools from Lowes. My opinion comes from sockets and pliers, not calibrated things like torque wrenches, so YMMV...

Proto makes great tools. In the early 70's we would practically get in fights at the shop over snap-on vs proto. Unfortunately, with the small amount of wrenching I do now days I cant justify the money for either brand.

Me to that's why i have Proto Torque's, well 1 Mac too, but every thing else is Snap-on. It's all served me well.

Interesting that they say its "Accurate in Clockwise direction". I had never thought about whether my old snap-on was accurate in both directions. The only thing I can remember ever torqueing counter clockwise were the lug nuts on my 57 Buick.

i borrowed a steering wheel puller for obvious reasons, but i'm not sure if i don't know how to use it or there are different types and this isn't what i need. i have a pretty good idea of what should be happening but i don't see how this one does that.

A few years ago they had them on sale for like $10. I bought a batch of them to give away to people that wanted to borrow my SnapOn ones. Just for giggles I put an 8 pt socket on the harbor freight ones and coupled them to the SnapOn ones. They were all consistent and dead on with the SnapOn. I mean that they clicked simultaneously when set to the same torque value. I did the test with 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2” drive models.

I used the HF model for over 15 years and no issues. I did all my own service on our 5 vehicles and its still going strong!

My buddies and I work on airplanes a lot and we are required to annually have the calibration re-certified on torque wrenches.
When my high-dollar wrench was “borrowed” and never found it‘s way back home... and I was in a hurry on a personal job on my truck... I bought a set of HFs in 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2”. The 1/4” found it’s way into my airport toolbox, so when the company sent the shop tools for re-cert... I threw it into the group. It passed.
Same thing next year.... and the next.... So I threw all 3 sizes into the last calibration group and all 3 passed.
I’ve never bothered to have them re-calibration checked since. It’s been 4 years now since I retired and would not hesitate to use them on my own airplane. (FAA has no idea how to get to my house anyway.)

I second the PROTO line, I calibrate them at work and rarely are they out of tolerance.
