I need to put a tach/hour meter on my tractor. Everywhere I look people are recommending Tinytach. I have yet to find a posting where someone actually installed one. I'm wanting to know if it's good or bad. Anyone?

I had the Sun tach with the rev limiter. Bought it in the mid-70's.

TC, here's a link from Ford Truck Enthusiast Forum in reference to a IDI pre-power stroke engine, about 1984 was the years. Give you a bit of information, but not directed specifically toward tractors.

Might try a google search of "tiny tach reviews".

Tiny Tach and Autometer make good tachs that will work on these trucks. The tiny tach clamps on to one of the injection lines and the autometer clamps on to the alternator. Both are about 120.00 but the tiny tach also keeps track of hours for service.

Thought I'd give this a bump.
As you can tell I'm a diesel motorcycle enthusiast. I've read many report on folks builds of diesel bikes and many have used tiny tach with out issue.

You know as intriguing as a diesel bike sounds, and as many people I know that ride and build, people talk about them but I have yet to see one on the road. Im sure they are out there but I would love to talk to some one that has or built one

Tiny Tach.
Ok the tiny tach measures hours running by sensing electrical pulses from one of the spark plug wires. I am not sure how you would connect it to a diesel, but Im guessing there is a way. Some also will tell you what the rpm is as well, might be a little more difficult to set up on a diesel. If the injectors are fired electrically, then that would be the way to go and you would get rpm and hours.

I have about 15 of these things on various pieces of equipment from gas powered pressure pumps to kid's snowmobiles. I swear by them as we always know when to change the oil on all the different equipment we have. (50 hours for some 100 for others)

I know we have one that is about 6 years old and still working fine.

Bought the Tiny Tach a couple years ago for my B7100 and it works great. You will need to specify the size of an injector fuel line to get the correct sensor with the tach.

Glad you like it. I'm going to order one as soon as I figure out the line size and the $$ fall into my tractor budget. Maybe after the cane harvest...
