Hi all,

cant figure out from the diagrams what returns the throttle to where the throttle handle is set when you let off the gas pedal. When mowing I step on the gas when getting to high grass and when I’m out let it off. But now the throttle doesn’t return. I have to reach down and pull the kill handle until it bumps up against the stop again.

thanks for any help.

I'm not in a position to look at my L175, but I believe there is a spring that's supposed to make it return. I had the same problem, but the quick fix (and I'm still using it after several years) was to make "rubber bands" out of old inner tubes. Put one end on the handle and the other to a small hook on the dash. May not be right, but it works for me.

thanks! I’ll try that too! I Can’t tell if there is supposed to be a spring in this thing that pulls the throttle or if it’s this spring coil (not sure of the technical name for a piece of wire wound that is springy)

this is sideways. This is where the throttle linkages terminate. Spring inside?

this is the wound wire near the kill lever. Maybe needs replacing? Can’t tell if it’s supposed to somehow pull back the linkages. (Also sideways)

Thanks!

If it has been working ok and stopped working then get some spray penetrating oil like PB Blaster and spray every pivot point on the linkage points.

I’ll look at my L185 tomorrow and see how it operates and let you know.

Thanks. Think I figured it out? So I did notice this coil was rusted together and rusted to body. Freed it up but I don’t think that was it. I think the spring on the pedal is supposed to pull it back. I put a small angle in the wire to give it a little more back pressure. Also I think the main thing was there is a jam nut / friction nut where the throttle linkage terminates. I loosened that up just a hair.

Don't know if your problem was solved, but I finally got back to my L175. The biggest problem was the large spring. I finally soaked it with penetrating oil, then washing it with soap and water. Guess there was enough of a build up of crud to let it work properly.
Need to do this again as it's collecting crud again.

Utopia- what’s up with the strap holding up the kill lever?
