This is totally my fault. Back when I bought the BX1850 I got this CountyLine subsoiler which I modified for trenching and cut through roots. Today I needed to dig a trench and put it on the current tractor an L3901. 1850 would stop on a stump....Not the L3901.

Be proud of your L3901. I bought a subsoiler from Everything Attachments. I have not used it yet, but it is quite beefy.....or at least appears to be to me. I don't think you would hurt it. It has a shear pin anyway.

I'm going to test it out one day, if it ever dries up around here.

It is for a cat 1 but in the specs. it listed Maximum Horsepower: Not to exceed 35 HP tractors.
Yepper, blew right past that:rolleyes:. Did not consult specs in the heat of the moment. Now looking for a correct one.

The 'wonderful' Powder coat paint failed, allows water to rust the steel, weekening the structure....causing the failure...;)
NOT the tractor's fault....:)

BTW, you should rebuild it NOT scrap it

Scrap piece of 4 or 5 inch channel and a stick welder you get to practice your fabrication skills. She will be better than new.

I went another route as I did not have the time to repair. Made this from stuff laying around to use on the 3point receiver. (just be careful......right;) )

I looked at the weld that failed, it was crap:eek:
More like it was tack welded and never finished. Other side was fully welded on both sides. The one that failed was only on one side and it was a small bead.

I did the same thing to my subsoiler that looks similar to yours. Mine held up fine for several years when hooked behind my 2WD JD 1050 but I managed to break a weld and twist the frame the first time I used it on my 4WD MX4700. I replaced the horizontal piece of angle iron and straightened the A-frame with a torch. Used my stick welder to add reinforcement and beef-up all the welds.
