Hi Everyone,

Long story short: We had some major fire damage last year to about 5 acres of our property. This coupled with a bunch of other tasks suited for an excavator made us consider making a purchase. We currently have a very capable M62 (bought 2018) that has been a fantastic machine. We are also moving up to said property full time next year so I started thinking more about snow management. In the end I decided on the following:

Purchase:
1. KX040-4 with 6 way blade, cab.
2. L6060 cab with 3rd function, 3 remotes (for my tnt and rear blade), rear work lights and wipers, and a rear snow blower. L4479 with hydraulic chute control.

Trade: M62, grapple, 3 remotes

I am keeping the top n tilt, pallet forks, the rear blade, the wood chipper for the L6060.

So on to the title….The dealer had a L6060 on the lot a month ago with no loader in site. Turns out there was one sitting at another of their locations and had been for a year or 2 (LA1055). It’s a touch faded, but still in the shipping crate and he is knocking $1000 off and giving me an extra year of warranty. I am a bit surprised but somehow we found a loader. Pics, let me know if anyone sees something crazy. Signing paperwork on the deal this Friday.

Oh and dealer had a MX6000 ready to go, asked me if I preferred it instead (this was a few days ago when they had no LA1055). I did some more research and mainly decided to stick the the L60 for HST Plus (the M62 has it and I am spoiled) AND the 3PT system. The 3PT on the L60 is like the M60, external hydraulic cylinders. The MX has it internal so any issues require more work. L60 also has more capacity, although I will never need it.

If you want the loader to look like new, just compound/wax and buff it.
I did my entire 14 year old L48 TLB, since the original owner had stored it outside.
It had been parked in a shady area, but was somewhat faded.

I compounded & waxed.... a little bit at a time.
Blackened the hoses, (Duplicolor HVP106 Vinyl & Fabric spray) removed and resprayed both fenders (Valspar enamel with hardner), resprayed both buckets, and resprayed ( rattle cans) the gray console.
Replaced the seat.
Looks like an almost new machine now.

Having bought it used in June 2019, now with 253 total hours, and from current comparables, it appears to be worth 35% more than I paid for it pre Covid.
It has every option that was available at the time of manufacture.

Why are you trading in the grapple?
It weighs 922 lbs lol. The lift capacity of the M62 is 4000lbs, the L60 is 2300. I can't loose 1/2 of my lift for a grapple. Ill get a lighter one.

I'll be interested to see how the 6 way blade on the mini compares to Tnt on a tractor. I've never rented a mini with a 6 way, only 4.

I have read and kind of believe that the final drives on an excavator are much lighter duty than the drive train on a tractor. So I would think the tractor can do more work without abuse to the drive train as compared to an excavator...

Can’t really compare them in my opinion. I have tnt with angle blade on the tractor and will get the 6 way on the excavator. Excavator has blade in front of tracks. Tracks provide a much more stable platform to keep the blade level vs a tractor rear blade. I have to fiddle with the height/angle all the time on the tractor, or cut deep enough that it makes up for any holes/ruts a wheel hits before the blade gets to that spot. I can float the blade to help some, but you still dont get a totally level cut.

With excavator, no such issue. Blade is in front of tracks, so by the time the machine runs over that spot its already cut. I expect to use the excavator for shaping and the tractor for maintaining (ie just pulling the gravel back in on an already smooth road).
