Attempt to replace friction disks raised some questions. Attached is a diagram of the PTO shaft slip clutch that the Kubota dealer printed for me. I appear to be missing part #6 from my setup . The question, Is part #6 a part that is supposed to be on all RCR1872 units or were some made without it. Judging from the wear pattern on part #7 I've never had part #6.

Part number 6 is the Inner Pressure Plate are you sure it has not become corroded onto part #7 the Outer Pressure Plate?

I inspected the side of the outer pressure plate with 10x magnification. The inner pressure plate is not joined to the outer pressure plate. Just out of curiosity roughly how thick is the inner pressure plate. Attached is a jpg of unit disassembled. I lost my inner friction disk, the reason for disassembling in the first place

Did you buy it used is there a chanse someone else took it apart and did not reassemble with this inner plate? I guess you can get away without it as you said yours has been working for some time without it. I have Woods BBX rotary cutters and they use a Belleville Spring style clutch on the PTO shaft where the outer plate is a Belleville spring plate which is not flat but has a wavy edge.

In your photo you only show one friction disc, there should be 2, was the second plate present?

The important thing is that you are servicing and adjusting your slip clutch which is very important and should be done at least once a season.

IMHO absence of plate(key 6) is not important if slip clutch can be successfully adjusted with no slippage while operating.

What does the parts page with the part numbers that goes with the one you posted say? A lot of time in the notes alongside the part numbers it will say if it was not used in all of them.

Post resolved. Landpride sent the correct drive line diagram. The diagram shows two friction plates and does not show the part labelled #6 in the previous diagram. There aere evidently several drive lines that may have been shipped with RCR1872. KUDOS TO THE LAND PRIDE parts department they were very patient and helpful. Have to be careful the friction disk are different diameters between the PTO shaft variations.

Glad to hear that you got it solved. It’s frustrating that there can be multiple parts books/ pages for something that you only find out about if you talk to the one person that knows.
