I ran across this on youtube and thought some might find it interesting.

Interesting. I used to always put a half twist in straps to keep them from buzzing and working loose until the past few years. Some DMV officers in NC now will stop you, make you take the twist out, and if you don’t have all the ratchets on the driver side, they’ll make you move them. No statute to support it but they’ll find something wrong or call it failure to secure load if you don’t comply. Never understood it.

I like the ratchets on the passenger side so I can check them on the roadside with less risk of getting hit by a passing vehicle.

Great video, thanks for sharing. 2 things...I really want his shop, no, I really need his shop and I wish he had tried some older straps like mine that have been around the block many times for several years. Be interesting to see how much sooner they fail.

It is amazing how many times I see rather heavy loads strapped down with 1" straps instead of 2". :oops:

Yep, been quilty as sin of doing that years ago, you know back when you believed you would never get old like other people. :rolleyes:

All i could think about when the strap snapped and deflected that huge jack was what that thing could do to a person.
