Was in RK today and they had some Cat 1 draw bars for like 20 bucks, yeah made in india but maybe good enough for what Im thinking about. I want to build a mini boom pole for lack of a better word, 24in high with about a 12 inch boom with a hook so I can hook up to logs to haul out. Because the BX is a tad on the smallish side I dont need anything massive. SO I was thinking of welding to this cheap indian made draw bar and using like 2 x 2 heavy wall welded to it with a couple of gussets ,up to the short boom. So does this sound like an exercise in futility or not?

If your going to the woods with BX you need a metal skid plate to protect the hydro cooling fan.

With log tongs on an anchor shackle, I use the top hook of a quick hitch, or one of the blade pivot holes of my rear blade.

Would like to find the $20 draw bar. Couldn't locate it on their site. Live nowhere near a RK.

Back when we got the Ford, I needed a means of lifting things. Since it didn't have a loader a boom pole was the answer. I did use it on a B7500 a few times. Here's a (poor) picture of it with a drag attached. The boom pole was made from a piece of 2" SCH 40 pipe. The lower end of the pipe is welded to a piece of 3" angle that is just a bit shorter than the drawbar. Then the angle was fastened to the drawbar with 4 bolts.

The boom pole hasn't been used for a long time. Recently I unbolted the drawbar so it could be used on a counterweight I'm making.

If you lived closer to me, I'd give you one. I somehow collect them. Been walking around/over 3 of them for a long time!!

TSC has them too, made somewhere over there. Problem with them is... They are forged steel and bendable whereas the OEM drawbars are hot rolled steel shapes and much more stout.

If I was going to get one, I'd go to a steel supplier and buy a length (appropriate) steel one.

Had one of the offshore made drawbars and just standing on the end, bent it. I think it went in the scrap bin years ago.
