I've noticed some other forums have a feature this one doesn't have.
On the avatar pic, we have an little "person" symbol to indicate wether or not the member is online.
On other forums, they have an additional symbol, indicating who is the original poster.
In the screenshot below, this is a green diagonal band with "OP".
This isn't absolutely necessary obviously, but kind of a nice feature.
Maybe it is as simple as turning the feature on?

I have seen this too on other forums I follow.

In some cases, such things are only available with software upgrade (on the server) or even which software is being used to serve the forums.

In this case, the software being used is "XenForo" The other forms I follow also indicate they are using XenForo so at least this is the same.

I would LOVE to see this feature enabled. Deep into a thread I have a hard time knowing who is asking what when....especially when threads sometimes get swiped (unintentionally usually, I am sure) by others.

I like to be able to zoom through and see if a problem (for example) has been solved by the OP and what he did and (sometimes) skip all the rhetoric and guessing !

;-)

Yes this would really help my very short memory. I usually have to scroll to the top to see who the OP was. Another forum I'm on shows the OP as the "Discussion Starter" on each of his post through the thread.

A lot of these types of features require a separate add-on from a 3rd party vendor. Some administrators don't add a lot of these features since support isn't easily available when they become problematic. Xenforo isn't as easy to navigate the back end as was the old VBULLETIN software. On a forum that I administrate, after 2 years, there are features that I still have yet to master, since it is so complicated on the back end.
I did look into the question to see if I can add it to my forums before saying how easy or difficult it will be for the administration to add it here. The "add-on" is called "Original Poster Highlight 1.5.0, and I cannot find a cost for ist purchase. I did find a link to the author, but when I clicked on the link, I got an error message. The server might just be down or it might be a permanent error message, which would indicate that support is no longer available for the ad-on.
This is the message from Xenforo about this "ad-on":
Resources listed here are not affiliated with and have not been reviewed by XenForo Ltd. If you have any questions regarding a resource, please contact the author. XenForo Ltd. is not involved in any resource-related transactions.

We already have this.
The OP symbol (Red) is just below the OP's avatar.
The green symbol means "online".

I do not mean to change subjects.... but here is another I have been wondering about which is along the same lines.

When folks "like" a post, I do not see a way to tell WHO did the "like"ing. All I can see is how many folks "liked" it.

I don't suppose there is a clever trick to tell WHO "liked" a post?

On my cell phone, if I tap on the line containing the like, I get a screen showing each 'liker'.

On my cell phone, the OP symbol is to the side, since it's formatted differently (but the green symbol is at the bottom). Thanks, I never knew what it was for.

Perhaps I should have been more specific, I am using laptop computer with FireFox browser.
I have tried clicking all over the place and still not able to determine "likers"

What am I doing wrong?

My iPhone does not show this.. and I think I just associated the red dot with lifetime members the way my phone places it. Oh well we know now!

Top right hand corner of the screen is a bell. Clicking on it lets you know who Liked or reacted to your post, but I dont see a way to see who liked other members posts.
