I've inherited my dads L3301 which has been sitting for a while. I brought it to the dealer and was told I need a complete re-haul of the fuel system at a tune of 11k. I've got some codes and the unit has 98 hours on it. I know he replaced the fuel filter but they showed me a sample with a bunch of rust and junk in it. I've worked on diesels before but its just been cummins 5.9 and 6.7 motors.

My question is can I fix this or do I need to replace every thing? What can I use to read the error codes and reset them?

I would start at the tank - empty and clean (if removable it would be better)
Replace all the filters
Replace all the lines

I would imagine the pump may need to be cleaned or have new fuel run through it.
AS for the injectors - I would think that "new" clean fuel would make those work - then again they may need to be cleaned or rebuilt.

'sat awhile'.......
Ok is that 2 months, 2 years, 2 decades ???
really need to know
if 2 months or 2 years...,as 85H says, clean tank, lines, install new filters...charge battery, follow 'purge' sequence, then see if she fires up and runs......

Had a gas GMC van ,sat 18 months in field... added fresh battery, turn key, drove it home....
My tired diesel Forklift can sit 1-2 months... as long as batteries are good, she fires up...

be interesitng to see the 'must need work' sheet cause 11K is a LOT of coins !!!

Dad passed Nov 19 2019 and my uncle went and got it a few weeks after and parked it at his place. After we got my dads will and documents processed we went and picked it up. I was out of town on work so it sat at my sisters for till a few weeks ago. I asked if the fuel tank was full so condensation wouldn't build up.

Thats ugly 😬. Unfortunately thats a common rail engine. Those high pressure pumps do not take well to dirty fuel/water. Once they are damaged, everything needs replaced/cleaned so it doesn’t happen again.

And you won’t be able to do the resets and IQA programming without the Kubota diagnostic equipment (not sure what all is involved with a Kubota) Maybe @lugbolt or @whitetiger can give more specific info as to what all is involved on your particular model.
