Back in March I received an email from Peter Easterlund at TractorData.com,
I had sent him photos of my L1500DT after the restoration.
He was contacted for a photo of an old L1500 tractor for a Kubota ad.

He forwarded me the contact information and I contacted Martin Williams Advertising in Minneapolis.
One of their clients is Kubota and they were looking to find a head on shot for usage in a Kubota 50th anniversary print ad.
He included a concept of what the ad would look like.

I sent him some photos and the rest, as they say is history,
ad runs in the 09/20 edition of Family Handyman.
Here is the final approved rendition of the ad.....

Very nice. I am sure the royalties will pay your descendants for decades to come!

I have to say I might just like the 50 year old original look better!

Very cool. I, too, like the look of the older model.

It would be a risk, but they should offer a limited edition anniversary model with the bug-eye hood. I think that would be cool.
But like the car manufacturers found out....it could fly, or fail.

Are they going to send you a new tractor as payment? Great ad, but I would have liked it better if they had taken the loader off for a true comparison.

I do, too. Many of today's new tractors are borderline ugly, to my eye.

Kubota put together a nice history of the last 50 years decade by decade on their website. I think your tractor maybe there as well that photo looked familiar.

Clearly the older design is strictly utilitarian whereas the new design caters more to the cartoony, Transformer crowd. Most likely designed by millennial aged employees.

Hard to find a better looking L1500. Interesting to use a gray model but I suppose it's tough to tell the difference between that and an L185DT.
I like the looks of that era.. it has the overhang that reminds me of the JD 10 and 20 series.

Got some copies of the magazine today, right on the back cover!
I was told by the ad guy,
"the back cover is the most expensive position in the magazine,
followed by the two inside covers".

Who knew?
