I just bought a used MX5100 hst. I was driving it across the yard everything operating like it should. I turned it off for about 10 minutes started it back up and it will not move. I am looking for a service manual and any suggestions to check.

My first inclination would be to check I did not “bump” the high , medium, low shift lever to one of the neutral positions.

I have checked that. I tried it in all three positions. I know it seems like it would be something like that. I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks!

Silly question , the clutch pedal is not not locked in the down position?

Ruling those out, when the treadle pedal is depressed is there any indication at all the tractor is attempting to move or a change in engine rpm or hst tone? Have you verified the hydraulic oil level?

Fluid level?
Brake set?
Range engaging?
Range linkage?
HST Pedal linkage?

Yes checked all these. I also made sure the actual shafts that the linkages are attached to are turning. I broke loose the line that appears to be coming from the charge pump going to the directional controller. I did have what appears to be good flow. I am going to pick up a gauge to test pressures. Just not sure which plugs are the test ports. It just seems I’m missing something or overlooked something

Had & a HST failure on my L3130 / lots of reresearch three dif. dealers & head Mechanics / ended up putting a used trens. baught on line / If you have checked all of the above feadback items /oil deain & cut filters open if you have bronze that will tell you its in the HST pump or drive

I’m hoping it’s not that. I worked on hydrostatic pumps in the past. It’s been a minute. Usually you can hear them whining. This acts like it’s lost the charge pressure or something silly like a linkage come loose. I’m going to pull the floor pan tomorrow and get a better look

Mine did not stop just kept getting slower & slower to the point were it would not go up a slight grade in any thing but low gear. Hope you find something simple

How many hours? Did you drive it around before purchasing? Did you get it from a dealer? It's strange that after running fine and only being off for 10 minutes something failed, I believe it may be something simple. Does everything else function properly i.e., FEL, PTO, power steering? How does the clutch feel? Clutch linkage? Good Luck

Any noise or change in noise when you step on the HST pedal?

My guess would be the range shifter is disconnected somewhere and is between gears. Taking off the platform takes some time and may not show much - Cover 070 comes off with 2 screws. Worth a look-see in there before diving deeper.

Disconect item #110 in the drawing above put a adjustable wrench on #100 and rotate it you will be able the feel if it is moviny the gear clusters in the gear case. You can do all this from under the tractor.

This HST has ELECTRONIC controls - we've been talking about mechanical causes but its very possible the issue is electrical. If the solenoid valves aren't working the tractor won't move. There are several electrical "faults" that could be preventing normal operation.

Hope somebody posts about the owners book and using the HST display on the "intellipanel". I don't have manuals on the newer HST's - but there is a discussion here (starting at post #31) on solenoid valves causing a "no movement" issue.

The newest edition of the owners book is Kubota #TC250-19717 MX4700 MX5100 Operators Manual - available here and elsewhere. Probably a good thing to have.

Best luck - Dick B.
