I’m new to this forum. Want thank you for the info and advise. There has been a lot of good info provide.
My question stems from availability issues. There seems to be a lot more of the 60-in mower decks on the secondary market. And in my area, just about every dealer stocks new 60-in decks.

BX1880-1 says it is compatible with the Rck48-18BX, Rck54-23BX, RCK60B23BX
BX2380-1 says it’s compatible with the Rck54-23Bx, Rck60B23BX, but also Rck54D-26BX, RCK60D-26BX (drive over decks).

Can you fit a RCk54D or RCK60D to the BX1880-1?

The BX1880 can only use the smaller of the two MMM decks: 48” or 54”. Kubota USA website pdf (1 page attached) downloaded just now lists the options for non-drive over MMM decks.

hmm... IF you run a 60" deck you make 9 passes for every 10 using a 54" deck, that 'should' be a + BUT 60" deck is wider (6"+) so NOT good in tighter places....---

have to wonder how well a 18HP engine could spin 60" deck, especially the tall, wet grass most seem to have to cut.

I’ve seen that info. If you go into Kubota’s online parts catalo, the BX1880 lists the Rck48-18bx and Rck54-23BX as related equipment. The BX1880-1 lists Rck48 and Rck54 but also lists the RCK60B23Bx as related equipment.

if the Rck54-23BX is related equipment why wouldn’t the Rck54D-23BX work with the BX1880-1?

My best ”guess” is that the BX1880 may not support the drive over deck feature of the other BXs.

My guess is that it has to do with clearance. The 1880 is about an inch closer to the ground than the 2380. My guess is that you need that extra inch for the drive over hanger (link). i wonder if you change from the 16 and 24 tires to the 18 and 26 tires if the drive over deck will fit on the 1880-1?

I have the BX1860, which has the same engine that your BX1880 has. I have the BX54-23BX mower on my tractor and it is okay for most of what I mow. However, the 48 inch mower would better serve me because my mowing area is very uneven. I would hit much less rocks with a 48 inch deck than with Mt 54 inch one. Keep on mind that the wider the deck, the more your mower will articulate when mowing over uneven ground. Just something to consider when choosing which mower deck to purchase. If your lawn is relatively flat and very few trees and brush to mow around, then go big. If you have uneven ground or obstacles to mow around the go smaller.
