My M120 PTO will not shut off. I can move the lever to engage and disengage but there is no difference. Can anyone tell me if this is all mechanical or is there also a solenoid switch that could be stuck on?

From the parts illustration it looks like the pto is hydraulic controlled by a cable to the valve that controls the pto clutch.

Start by checking that the cable is attached at both ends.

Thank you for the response. I checked the cable. It is moving the arm on the top of the valve but the pto continues to run. Also, I noticed that when I move the lever to the engage position, the pto light does not come on.

I do not have access to a wiring diagram.

Likely the light is just an indicator and the fact it is not lighting up may be a wiring or bulb problem.

Is the pto turning with power or just rotating?

Sounds like insufficient travel on the valve actuator to me. You might adjust the cable travel a bit. The PTO clutch pack is wet inside the transmission case and actuated by hydraulic pressure which is adjustable externally on the valve body but I believe you have a cable length issue.

It's possible the control valve has malfunctioned. Has any undue strain been applied to pto clutch that could have possibly warped any drive plates that could cause plates to drag? I think wiring is strictly utilized as an indicator of on/off similar to a fuel gauge

On both my M9's cable length (inner) is adjustable at the actuator next to the seat, not at the valve body.

I'm not sure about the strain. I just purchased the tractor. I will look at the cable this afternoon then possibly pull the control valve off. Any advice for removing it or what to look for? Thank you.
