I recently purchased an LX2610 and am wondering if anyone has used them for square baling. If so what attachments work well?

Not a chance.

Yes, you might pull an engine baler in certain conditions on flat ground.

Don't try pulling a hay wagon.

Get you the tiny round baler that only requires 17 PTO hp.

If you mean an old style square baler (the small bales), then yes it will be able to do it.

You can check out this Messick's video about what people do with their BX (sub-compact) tractors, and around the 7:40 mark you will see a BX with a square baler

Tractor Time with Tim ran a small square baler with his JD 1025R.

Why not, We used to bale all the time with a john deer B , and old fords and that wasn't much more HP, really the flywheel does all the work.
I just wouldn't run a heavy model on any hills!

Sure, if you want to shake you and your tractor to death every time the plunger goes forwards and backwards. I baled a few million bales of hay in my lifetime, and there is no way I would use a B or BX series Kubota to do it. They are not as robustly built and heavy as the older tractors like the Ford 8n and John Deere B. Tractor Time with Tim did it with a JD 1025 , but he isn’t the brightest bulb on the internet. Square balers put a lot of energy back on the tractor.

Plus, there are additional choices for a small round baler:

These balers all weigh about 850 lbs. Would you want to bale 200 acres with one - no. Could you easily bale 5, 10 or a little more acres a couple of times a year - yes.

For 12 grand one could purchase a lot of hay, and not mess with the heat or repairs !!!
Unless you are doing production level haying, it is doubtful that it ever makes money sense to make your own hay - unless all of the equipment was given/inherited/bought it really cheap used.

As others have noted, there is equipment that can work on compact tractors. Sure, it will be slower than a large machine, but possible.

Fwiw, it's possible to bale hay by hand, too. Go search YouTube for examples.

True. As stated in the advertisement this kit gives you the power to harvest hay at its peak nutritional value... not when the farmer down the road decides it is time.

We quit putting up hay around 1992 and I will not be revisiting that era.

Perhaps not everything in life has to pass a cost/benefit analysis. :) Some things are about being self sufficient, enjoyment, control, ownership, pride, quality, hobbies, memories, etc. I've never cut a hayfield, never ran a hay tedder, never made windrows, or baled up hay, but I can imagine it's very satisfying. Many, many years ago I picked up square bales and loaded them on a trailer for a few days and that was hard work but still enjoyable.

Must not have been August in Mississippi. The day I got to run the rake I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

I used a MF1528, at 22 pto hp, at 2600 pounds with a NH 273 baler and made thousands of bales. I am in Florida with no hills to worry about.

I had a NH TL80A cabbed tractor that I could have used to bale with but I preferred the MF 1528 to do the baling. The hydrostat made the adjustment of the ground speed so much easier to match the speed with the volume of the hay. There was never any rocking of the tractor since you could let up on the ground speed. I have watched much larger tractors getting rocked due to the operator having to shove in on the clutch to allow the baler to catch up.

It did work the tractor but that is why I bought it.
