I don't know if it's common or I'm just "lucky". My seat was shaky when I flipped it up and I noticed the pivot pin had worked its way partially out. I removed it to check and the end was drilled for a cotter pin. I put on a thin layer of grease to ease installation and put it back into its proper place. I used a hitch pin to secure it. Now I'm wondering if I should have used a washer as well. I'll have to have another look at it.

Mine did the same thing. Actually I think it's done it twice. Seems like the second time I used a heavier hitch pin and haven't had any more problems.

all the new ones have a different kind of pin; it has a weird shape to it that is close to (but not fully) impossible to install, and even harder for it to come out. It's real easy to get the seat pin & 3ph pins confused when doing assembly out of the crate; and if you get 'em swapped, the one on the 3ph won't ever come out but the slip on the seat sure will.

Put a cotter pin in it and be done with it. Washer optional.

Thanks for that tidbit of information, Lugbolt. I did note in the L2501 parts breakdown there were two different part numbers for these clips listed. There was no explanation of differences, which was which, or pictures. The two clips, called snap pins, are p/n 05516-51000 or p/n 6C040-42390. One is a snap pin, the second number is a snap pin, 10. I don't know if that means the second is a package of ten of the first but I don't think so because weights are the same.

My 2018 MX4800 has this problem as well, similar design to the 2501 (which I also have). Sure was surprised when the MX seat basically collapsed down on one side. I lost the pin, for now have just been reaching down while using it and shoving the pin further to the right.

I'll get a cotter pin.
