Newbie question…

Grease’n the loader today and noticed one of the curl cylinders is loose on my loader.

By loose I mean there is some ‘play’ when pulling back and forth on it from the side…maybe 1/8 inch movement at most, probably less. The other 3 cylinders remain tight. Not sure if something is wrong with this one or if it’s normal and the others will eventually have some play as well over time?

Appreciate any advice,

A Tractor Noob.

That would be the norm on most tractor loaders.

Ideally there would be shims installed to reduce 'side play' .Over time, without shims ,there will be wear on various parts. Yes it could take years ,depends on lots of factors (loads, distribution of loads, greasing, cycles, etc.)

Appreciate the quick responses. Thank you.

Now on to the next loader ‘issue’ getting the parking stand adjusted to release properly. At least that fix is in the manual.

I am finding these tractors require tinkering. Grease this, tighten that, check that level there and then clean these things. As long as I don’t have to get into the motor…I am good with the tinkering!

Not to change the subject but how does your tractor handle the FDR1660?

Seems like that would max out the PTO, but would still work. (y)

Works good on the tractor, typically run it a touch below the 540 mark on the tach, seems to be the happy spot…good blade speed, smooth, less noise, saves a little fuel too I suppose.

It is a heavy SOB 600#+ …I mow in medium range… hills will make the hydro whine a bit and 4wd is often required when backing up a hill. I have turfs with no ballast…weighting those tires may help, but trying to keep the weight down on the lawn. Everything is a tradeoff I guess.

The mower cut itself is very good, noticeably better than the simplicity zero turn I sold when I got the tractor.
