I’m looking at a 2006 M9540 but the only thing that worries me is that it has 3400 hours. It has a fel, cab, 4x4, inside looks immaculate, no tears in the seat, and if you were to look at it you would swear it just rolled out of the showroom. No faded paint and also runs, starts and sounds like a new tractor. No slack in any linkage and shifts flawlessly. Like I said the only hurdle I can’t seem to make it over is the fact that it has 3400 hours. I’ve never had a kubota with this many hours because I usually trade them long before that. Are there any concerns I need to know about or any problems I can expect in the near future for the motor? What is the expectancy of that motor? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Josh

If it has been taken care of and properly serviced, then 3400 hours is nothing to worry about. Obviously you want the price to reflect it. When I use to farm, we almost never considered trading a tractor before 10,000 hours and many went to 15,000+. These weren’t Kubotas because they didn’t make bigger farm tractors then. We used John Deere, Ford and Case.

Josh, my neighbor bought the same model last summer. HST cab, 3400 hours, loader, used in the hay field, 2007 (I think, maybe 2006). He had to get new mirrors and one other part that was cracked on the hood, and a power steering hose.

He bought it at an auction for $19K. They had another one identical, sold for a tad less. Farmer was quitting.

When he told me, I told him he should have bought the other one also. And now when he's using the tractor I ask him if he ever went back to pay for the other half!

He has had no problems or complaints. He dragged my 6,000# trencher with flotation tires out of a mud bog (that I couldn't move with the backhoe) like he was pulling a toy wagon!

Nice, nice machine.

My M9540 only has 1,300 HRs and I believe it is a 2008. I wouldn’t be scared of it because of the hours. They way you described it, sounds like it has been well taken care of. That’s an average of 340 hours a year which isn’t a lot of it was used by a full time farmer.
