Anyone got any idea of the nut size on the blades of this rotary cutter?
I want to take the blades off at some point to balance.
It's a big ole nut !!!
Thanks, Pete

The nut for that bolt is 1-1/8".

If you go to LP's site, you can download: Manual No. 318-000M, "Rotary Cutter Blade Bolt Kit" which has all the specifications.

LandPride 1260 blade swap

I am tired of being covered in dirt from my lift blades on the mower. I am gonna swap out for some with no or little lift. I have the 5' cutter.
Has anyone done this?
If so, what blades did you use and how are they working ?
Thanks, Pete:confused:

I have the 2572 rear discharge - never a problem. I have a new set of blades for it too. Since yo're so close...come borrow mine and see if it does better before you go swapping stuff around. Can you swing a 6' finish mower?

If you are not familiar with torque multipliers look at this link and then watch some you tube videos. Unless you have a serious impact gun getting these large fasteners to let go can be a challenge.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzZS8x-rNuY
https://www.amazon.com/Tenive-Tool-...23406&sr=8-5&keywords=torque+multipliers+tool.

There is a wide range of styles and prices. The one I provided the link to does not have the socket you need but any one inch drive impact socket will work.

Amazing increase of torque with simple internal gearing. The youtube video product produces almost 3,000 lb ft of torque

Re: LandPride 1260 blade swap

Thanks, Cap'n. My turf is a bit ruff for a finish mower. I would be afraid of tearing one up.
My brother is in the market for a used finish mower in Saucier. Wants a 5'.
Know of any for sale ?
Thanks, Pete:D

Thank you for the torque multiplier info. Gonna try it with a few tools I have around here first. See what happens ...ha.
That nut appears to be a 1 11/16" size for a 1 1/8" bolt. Got a socket ordered. Since the thing is fairly new, hoping it will just pop rite off ...haha ha ha ha
We will see.
Thanks, Pete:D

Best bet to get those nuts off.....

1. Go to Tractor Supply and get a 18 inch 3/4 breaker bar, 8 inch extension, and 1 11/16 socket, 4 foot cheater pipe

2. Acetylene torch - get bolt cherry red

3. Use cheater + breaker bar to pop them loose.

Used this method to get them off my RCR2560.....now that was fun!

I used my portable impact driver on mine and it works very well.

I know what you mean about the dust, that is why I try to do mine right after it rains.
In fact, if it isn't raining very hard, I will do it then.

I have my cloud of dust problem fixed with my LP 1260. I put some "normal" blades on it and took the airplane propellers off. Cuts great, no cloud of dirt all the time all is good now.:D

What blades did you use and what did you use on the bolts?

On the above post, note that the blades I put on are 24 1/2" long. The super high lift blades on the LP 1260 listed as 25".

I lost no cutting width as the extra 1/2" on the LP is behind the mounting hole and is just wasted metal. The actual blade from the mounting bolt is exactly the same length as the original.

Getting the blades off is easy. I used the above socket with a 3" extention and a slide type breaker bar. Stuck a cheater bar on it and off they came. All the above tools are 3/4" drive...1/2" ain't gonna cut it.:D
