I lent out my L3830 and got it back with the speedometer not working along with some other damage.

In order to keep from rocking the boat I m making the repairs myself and not saying anything. Just learned a lesson.

I know that trees were driven over and racked underneath the tractor instead of backing over the trees and shredding them with the brush hog. When I picked it up I had to pull a half a cedar tree out of the front grill. I m saying this to paint an idea of what the tractor when through to help give a clue of what the issue could be.

I have climbed under the tractor and there are not any obvious hanging wires or disconnected pigtails. The speedometer just reads 0.0. I have checked the fuses and they are good.

The kubota parts diagram is not specific to which pigtail is the speedo of the magnetic pickup from the transmission. It is a digital speedo, not a needle.

Any ideas on what could be wrong and where the connections are for this thing?

Thanks in advance

The Tachometer likely pulls RPMs from the engine. Id look for a black cable from rear of dash and trace it out.

I discussed with the Kubota house back on Monday. He said the speedo runs off the magnetic pickup off transmission and goes through computer.

The tach is fine, the speedo is the issue. I will pull front dash off and trach the speedo wire back and see what that gets me.

My guess is the wires down below got pulled enough to cause it to not make a connection but also not be completely pulled out. I am having a hard time finding which pigtail underneath is for the speedo.

Thanks,

Toby

The attachment should help in identifying location of "Traveling Speed Sensor".

Good luck with the repairs.

Added in edit:
Traveling Speed Sensor This sensor is to detect the traveling speed, and it is equipped on the right bottom side of the differential case. This sensor perceives tooth of the front wheel drive gear on the PTO drive shaft and emits pulse. This pulse is sent to the electronic instrument panel, and the traveling speed is calculated by the coefficient which is set according to the tire size. The data of traveling speed is always sent to the ECU.

From Troubleshooting section
Traveling Speed is Not Indicating
• Wiring harness disconnected - Repair
• Traveling speed sensor defective - Replace

Wow... sorry to hear about the issue. Hope you can get it all sorted out, and the guy you loaded the tractor to will man-up and compensate you.
