My L3800 has about 600 hours on it. I was doing some work this weekend and noticed I couldn't pull it out of gear. Then I noticed that the tractor was actually slowly moving forward while I had the clutch pedal pushed in. I also noticed at that time it was making a whining sound. I shut the tractor off to pull it out of gear. After restarting the tractor things seemed normal.

So whats the issue here. Is my clutch shot? Or just a strange glitch. I purchased the tractor with 525 hours on it. I think it has 625 hours on it now. I have not changed transmission fluid since I purchased it. Could old fluid be an issue?

Have you adjusted the clutch per the WSM procedure?

Thing only thing you can do externally is the clutch free pedal. Usually IIRC 10-30 mm before coming up on first stage tension.

WSM is the workshop manual.

Clutch pedal adjustment is also covered on page 60 of your operators manual.
